    OKLAHOMA CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT

    CAREER DAY

    The Oklahoma City Fire Department will be hosting a Career Day (minorities are encouraged to attend) on November 5, 2005, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., at Fire Station 1, 820 N.W. 5th. Come see the career opportunities the Fire Department has to offer.

    Requirements for the position of Fire Recruit are as follows:

    · Between the ages 18 and 44

    · Valid driver license

    · A U.S. Citizen, or have legal right to work in the U.S.

    · High School Diploma, G.E.D., or Equivalent.

    · Hiring preference may be given to applicants who possess their Oklahoma or National Registry Paramedic License.

    · Honorably Discharged veterans will receive a 5-point advantage at the first part of the testing phase.

    The Fire Recruit testing process consisting of a written examination, physical ability test, psychological and personal interview, a background investigation related to a candidate’s suitability for the Fire Service, and a medical evaluation.

    CAREER DAY ACTIVITIES












    See first hand the daily activities of a firefighter on duty



    Hazardous Materials Unit will be on display



    Rescue 8 Unit will be on display



    Fire Engines and Air Supply Unit on display



    Continuous showing of a video detailing recruit class, and all other aspects of the fire department



    Tours of Fire Station 1 and the Dispatch Center



    Talk one-on-one with firefighters about their chosen career. Your questions will be answered by someone who lives the life of a firefighter.
