It won't be a typical mall. Look more for a strip mall collection of shops.
Maybe they should make it a REAL mall and close Crossroads. Nice attraction that would make...
Then make Crossroads a prison. Their demographic target market would feel right at home.
They can just move the entire town of Valley Brook in there and lock the door.
Disclaimer: If you live in Valley Brook I'm not trying to offend you. I just hope you own a big gun.
I am confused. Will the entire 2.5 million sq. ft. be retail or a combination of that and office space? Also, I have heard that 500,000 sq. ft. will be some sort of “life center.” Are the Mall of America malls part office space too?
Does a master plan exist online? It would be nice to take a gander at the plans.

That is your typical Lifestyle Center as they are calling the Norman project. Not nearly as white trash as Patrick would let you think. In fact, I prefer them to traditional malls.
Strip malls aren't necessarily white trash. Just look at Quail Springs Marketplace.
Quail Springs Marketplace isn't white trash, it's just REALLY boring--both in design and in the kind of stores it offers.
Yup, I concur.Originally Posted by jbrown84
Here's the new project in a nutshell-the mall is an "outdoor mall"-which is apparently trendy these days. It's not your regular strip mall, much better. there will be high-profile stores coming in (according to an article that came in the business section of The Oklahoman). In addition, yes, the new 500,000 sq. foot Lifestyles Center will be the main enclosed building with shops, businesss and restaurants. And then a huge park which will be created on the west side of 24th Ave. Although I don't know if a city with two Wal Mart Super Centers really needs a Super Target.

These corporations do all types of market analysis before deciding to build a new store or to expand.

Well, what kind of shopping is in thoes other LARGE malls?
Go look

I for one am excited about the supertarget...have vastly different food options than walmart...probably won't step foot in the 19th walmart after it opens...it will make some serious money down in Norman w/ many shoppers from Moore and S. OKC heading there as well
whoever says that Norman doesn't need a Super Target because there are already two Wal-mart stores.....
apparently doesn't grocery shop much.....
I will never set foot in a Norman Wal-Mart when the Super Target is open....
Do you think UNP will even be close to the Mall Of America?
The Mall of America is a totally different concept than UNP. The UNP concept consists of 5 - 6 upscale anchor stores, not including SuperTarget along with a two or three hundred smaller retail establisments, including ones not seen in Oklahoma yet, in a community like setting rather than in a mall setting. Since there are no site plans yet, no one is positive of how it will end up. From the information that has been released, it will most likely be more park based rather than just another massive suburban outdoor strip mall or outlet mall. The University group who owns the land have strict guidelines for the architecture, etc so no worries, it will be nice and expansive.
