Recreation Centers
When I was a kid, we moved into a neighborhood that had a recreation center down at the end of our street. I could walk down there and play games and hang out with all the kids in the area. You could check out sports equipment or board games or toys and play with them all you want as long as you checked them back in. It was a wonderful way to get out of the house. On saturdays, they would have big games in the rec room, where everyone tried to through nerf balls at each other. That was one of my favorites.
For halloween, they would have a party and everyone would come down in their costumes and have loads of fun.
Then due to financial shortfalls, all the rec centers were closed down and left to rot. Makes me really sad to realize that the children growing up now are missing out on that.
