That is hilarious. I will have to ask them.

Per their Instagram page, Viridian Coffee is closing their store in The Village on 12/8 and their store in Chickasha on 12/31.

    Wow?! That wasn't long-lived?

I drive by a couple mornings a week and I have never seen it busy. Most I ever saw was 2 cars in line and 2 in the parking lot.

I kinda expected them to squash Mattie's across the street like a bug, so I'm glad to see they outlasted their competition.

    Open seven months, brutal.

And after all that work on the building, too. Wow.

If I recall correctly, the Village location was supposed to become their corporate headquarters.

Not the least bit surprised. Never saw the place do a lick of business. Proves location is everything.

Not a "high traffic" intersection in the sense of random cars driving by. Any vehicles passing through lives nearby. If they don't drink coffee; no sale.

There are certain streets in the city I would never open a business on that depended on people just driving by and stopping in. 50th street west of the parkway being a prime example. Those businesses have struggled since day one since those buildings were built. MacArthur and Meridian in that area too. Only people driving by are the people who live nearby. Drive down 10th street sometime from the parkway out towards Overholser. Imagine opening some sort of boutique store. Did that entire shopping center that was once a Hobby Lobby ever do well?

Live just around the corner, and unfortunately I'm not surprised. While every interaction was very pleasant, I didn't really think their coffee was all that good , their other offerings were just ok, their drive through ordering process always always incredibly overly tedious (I grated every time at having to choose between "light roast" and "medium roast" espresso at a place where all their coffee drinks taste roughly the same and the target customer doesn't know and doesn't care about the differences), and I never felt the need or desire to ever spend any time inside the building. Too bad, but like everything else, the coffee game in OKC has risen to the point where a new entrant is going to have to really know what they are doing, either from the quality coffee perspective (Clarity, Elemental, EOTE, etc.) or from a "Starbucks alternative" approach (I.e., Stella Nova), to last long. Hopefully they spent enough on the building where it make sense for another operator to come in and try to make it work, as the convenience factor for me is massive.

I don’t know if it’s been covered on here but I noticed another Viridian replaced Shimmers on Danforth and Bryant in Edmond about a month ago. They seem to be growing really fast. Killer location for them since it’s probably the furthest you can be from a Starbucks in Edmond haha. A whole 2 miles or so lol.

I say “growing fast” after they just closed 2 stores though… interesting that they’re still opening up new stores.

Is the Edmond location open? It's not an intersection I through often...

Wasn't the Village location supposed to be HQ?

They began hiring in early November to I imagine they’ve opened by now.

Yes, the HQ was located at The Village location.
