So annoying how they could crush the 23rd site lan and just completely biffed on the Western site. Hideaway did such an incredible job setting the tone for future new construction on this side of Western.

How do you mean? I'm not familiar with the 23rd site. I only know the store at May and Hefner. I agree, I do like that Hideaway a lot.

Not sure if this plays a part, but those are two different franchisees to my understanding.

That could certainly play a part. There are some franchise/business owners who want to make the quickest profit for the least amount of work and little to no concern for how their business impacts and/or fits into the area it's going into. Then you have some franchise/business owners who take the time to consider the context of where they build and how they can have a positive impact, how they can fit in well, and they take extra time to ensure what they're building will help build up the overall area they are into.

Of course, OKC consistently fails to create the infrastructure necessary to force developers hands on things like this and so, ultimately, the blame is with City Hall.

Totally agree, if the city doesn't allow cheap buildings to be built (HTeaO, Salad and Go, Scooter's Coffee, Dutch Bros, etc.), there will be no such ugly things.
