I understand Traber's being an a-hole and Eschbach's being a pervert is schtick. So Stephen A. Smith and Colin Cowherd no. Maybe Howard Stern and Don Imus.
"Most listened to" does not equal "best". Remember the social attitudes of the kinds of listeners in OKC. That is why Jim and Al are popular. They reflect the attitudes of their listeners. Right wing and crazy plays well in OKC.
Also, Traber lists well in "mid" market, not top markets. He in no way compares to the national guys.
I had to do a couple of retakes. One to realize it was mid market, and another cause I had no idea who did the ratings.
Of course they don't compare to the national guys. They aren't national guys. There are a variety of personalities on the station. The Sports Animal overall is a successful sports talk radio station for its market size.
AL went to bigger market in KC for what 6 months? then got thrown right back in okc. His schtick didnt last at all up there.
Wasn't that around 1993 or 1994?

Al had a job in KC in 1993 for 9 months.
The thing I hate most about Al is that at one time he was one of the most knowledgeable and connected OU sports experts. In the last 10 or 15 years he's just become a bad comedian.
He used to be a great sportswriter for the old Oklahoma Journal.

Yes he was.
