Thread: Doctor recommendations?

    Default Doctor recommendations?

Wondering if anybody knows a good site for doctor reviews/recommendations? It seems overwhelming to even try to start searching from scratch.

Basically, I need a podiatrist near-ish NW 36th/May, and if I ask my GP, most likely he'll just recommend someone in the Mercy system, no doubt way the hell up on Memorial (which is where he is now - he used to be closer to us and working for a different system, but he moved to Mercy because it was better for him and I stuck with him because he's a good doc), and I'm apparently in the minority here in OKC because I don't like to drive all over the metro to do things. None of my family or friends have a podiatrist, except my brother, who recommended his to my wife and the doc turned out to be completely worthless, and that was the second doctor he recommended to us that turned out to be crap, so I'm not asking him anymore.

    Thanks...

There are a ton of physicians that work out of the Baptist (Integris) complex.

I've seen a number of specialists there because like you, I prefer them to be closer to my home.

Yeah, I know, they're huge, like Mercy's complex(es), but I don't know how to even start - what sites are good and dependable that rate docs (are there any?), and if you don't have friends/family who can recommend, do you just pick someone at random and hope they work out? Done the random thing before and it hasn't really worked out 80% of the time (and my family's recommendations haven't worked out 100% of the time).

I’ve used healthgrades.com with moderate success. Although I will say I’ve had some great doctors that have less than favorable reviews on the website. But it’s a good place to start.

Thx, I'll poke around on there.

    Travellers,
First, my pcp is in the Mercy system but he doesn't always send me to another doctor in the Mercy system. He sends me to a dermatologist on Broadway and Britton road and I know if I asked him for somebody closer for one of my specialists he would find one. Just tell him your preference and ask him to recommend somebody.

Well, both me and my wife have asked for recommendations and his first choice is always a Mercy system doc, and yeah, I was going to ask him next time, but the appt's too far away. I found OK Foot and Ankle Assoc. around Deaconess (which is closer to me than Baptist), so thanks, Pete, for suggesting Integris.

My father is a podiatrist (but his offices are in Yukon and El Reno) so I know a ton around town. Dr. Terry Nayfa is at NW 50th and Portland. His clinic is called Northside Foot & Ankle clinic.

Cool, thanks, noticed him and it was between him and the other foot/ankle clinic, I'll do a bit more research to see which one sounds more up my alley...
