Weather November 2020 - General Weather Discussion

Gorgeous weather to start the month, with near-normal to above-normal temperatures and zero precipitation chances for the next week or so. Sometime between 11/8 and 11/10, a cold front looks to move through, which should be accompanied by our first precipitation chances of the month. At this time, the airmass behind this front does not look to be as cold as the one that caused last week's ice storm.

Well above normal temperatures and gorgeous late fall weather continue through Monday. The next system comes through around Monday Night, with accompanying precipitation chances. This will be a fairly dynamic system, and given the warm airmass out ahead of it, there could be enough instability for some thunderstorms. Cold front moves through with the system and temperatures will fall back below average for a few days starting next Tuesday. Will not get nearly as cold as it did in late October, but expect lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s.

Thread is dead this month with boring weather continuing. Like he said, small chance of a rain shower passing by late Friday night.

Saturday fire danger will be high as strong south winds will attack the state ahead of another cold front that will come through Sunday.

Next week looks nice with highs in 60s and 70s.

GFS continues to show the Nov 21-22 system impacting Oklahoma. Looks like Bedlam could be wet unless the rain holds off until overnight. Cold storm but right now looks like rain.

One day of near-normal temperatures today after last night's strong cold front. Another warming trend will start back up tomorrow, and by the end of the week highs will be back into the 70's, about 10-15 degrees above normal for the time of the year. Pretty much just another quiet week of perfect late fall weather. Next rain chance isn't until next Sunday.

Yeah the weekend storm looks like it will move in more on the 22nd and just be rain. Bedlam should be dry and warm for late November. Another storm moves in on the 25th that also looks like a rain event. Some decent moisture coming to the state next week.

Yep, hoping for some good rainfall totals with the system coming through late next weekend. The one silver lining about the ice storm was that it dropped a solid 4-5" of precipitation over Central OK which really helped make up for the dry period that started in mid September. Another 1"+ event would really help stave off the drought as we head into what's traditionally the driest part of the year.

Gusty south winds and well above average temperatures should continue through Saturday. A cold front should move into NW Oklahoma on Friday, and eventually stall out just NW of the OKC Metro, before moving through on Saturday Night. Widespread showers and a few embedded thunderstorms should develop behind the front and continue into Sunday. Looks to be a solid 0.5-1.0" of precipitation for the Metro.

A second system looks to move through Monday Night into Tuesday, with another chance of rain.

Temperatures from Sunday into Thanksgiving should be near normal for late November.

Cold front is going to come through faster than anticipated, it's already into Northern OK and now looks to push through the Metro tomorrow afternoon before stalling out, which means temperatures on Saturday look much cooler than previously forecasted.

The cold front has basically been stalled out directly over the Metro for the past 12 hours. It currently looks to be moving ever so slightly to the south. Most of the precipitation now looks to miss the Metro to the NE. Unless a thunderstorm pops up over the area (low probability), I doubt anyone will get more than a few hundredths of an inch of rain from this system, so the dry November continues for now. It will still be a fairly cloudy weekend, though we'll likely get some sun peaking out by end of day tomorrow.

Beyond that, there looks to be two more systems bringing thunderstorm chances on Tuesday and Friday. No real sign of any particularly cold air between now and the end of the month, so this will probably finish as one of our warmer Novembers on record.

SPC outline Slight Risk of severe storms for large portion of OK for Tuesday evening. We will have a storm ejecting out into the plains with some nice lift that will force tall thunderstorms. The main threats will be hail and wind with early isolated cells moving W to E. At this time, tornado threat is non-zero with 2% chance of a storm producing a tornado anywhere in OK.

NWS deciding on Tornado Watch or Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Main severe threat looks like it will be across NW OK and into NC OK with highest chance of rotating storms.

Clearing skies from SW OK heading toward C OK could pose a stronger severe threat in this corridor if clouds can break by around 3pm.

Probably going for severe with possible tornado warnings as warranted, given the generally small area of tornado formation

Looks like they went with a severe thunderstorm watch, through 9pm for the metro area

Storms approaching C OK from the west. Right now the only severe storms are N of OKC. However, storms are strengthening further to the SW.

OKC impacts will likely be between 6-7pm.

Storm threat is over for the Metro, skies are now clearing and the cold front is currently pushing through the western suburbs.

We'll have a nice one-day warm-up tomorrow (highs in the mid-60's), before a cold front moves through tomorrow evening and locks us into a cooler pattern for the foreseeable future (highs in the mid-40's to mid-50's). As far as precipitation goes, the next week looks quiet, with the only exception being a low-impact light rain event on Saturday. Maybe a few a snowflakes at the start of that as well, but certainly not enough to cause any travel problems.
