Default Things I Wish My Parents Would Have Told Me?

Now that I'm getting old(er) there are things my parents failed to tell me which I wish they would have. Here's a few examples. Maybe you have a few of your own?

    1. While there are mean people in the world try to see the good in people you meet.
    2. If you consider your cup is half full and not half empty it will make your day feel a whole lot better.
    3. Taxes are here to stay. Complaining about it will just make you cranky.
    4. Your opinion is just that. Yours. Don't look down on people who have an opinion different than yours.
    5. Consider every day a gift.
    6. Be generous. It will benefit others AND you.
    7. If you've had an extremely difficult days write down a list as many things as you can in which you are thankful for.
    8. Be adventurous. Life is short to fall into a rut.
    9. Stop and enjoy nature. If you do it'll help you put life into perspective.
    10. Smile more often. It'll cheer up some people and make the others wonder why your smiling.

I have nothing, but it did occur to me that even if they did tell me something I'm not sure I would have believed them at the time.

    Buck,

Those points all make me think of one of my all time favorite quotes if not my outright favorite:

"There are some things which cannot be learned quickly, and time, which is all we have, must be paid heavily for their acquiring. They are the very simplest things and because it takes a man's life to know them the little that each man gets from life is very costly and the only heritage he has to leave."

Teo, your quote sums up wisdom, which can only be acquired through a lifetime of experiences.

My list should be titled “Things that my parents told me that I wished I had listened to”.

One of my Dad’s favorite quotes was “never cut your nose off to spite your face”. Good advice that I did carry with me through the years.

Compounding interest is a thing. Floating interest rates are not necessarily your friend.
Really, any information about interest would have been a big help.

What if you consider the cup completely full because the other half is filled with gases?
