Thread: Tamales

  1. Default Tamales

Does anyone have a recommendation of a local place that sells really good homemade tamales (corn husk rather than banana leaf type)?

No doubt. I have eaten them for a couple of years and they are outstanding.

Picked some up from Tamales el Patio this weekend. The pork tamales are by far the BEST in OKC...store, restaurant, or home made. I got some chicken too, but haven’t yet tried them. And their green sauce is a must. And people were carrying tamales out by the dozens.

Thanks for the recommendation here. I love the OKCTalk network.

Hands down the best tamales in the metro. Bring cash as I know they only accepted same as payment a couple months ago.

Yep, cash only. Good news is it doesn’t take much. Dozen tamales for $15. Green sauce, $1.50

If you can catch them on a day they are selling the cheese and pepper tamal.... You won't regret buying a dozen or two of them.I've risked 3rd degree burns grabbing one from the bag as soon as I get in the car.Give the elote a try too!

The elote runs a bit rich for me. Their horchata was nice and smooth. I thought i'd get the pork exclusively, but the chicken is really good too. I'll probalby keep doing half dozen of each.
