Here is an article about a similar situation at San Francisco's SBC Park...

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Telephone company SBC is changing its name to AT&T.

SBC acquired AT&T, its former corporate parent, in January and announced Thursday that it wants to keep the 120-year-old brand name.

The announcement comes as federal regulators approved SBC Communications' $16 billion purchase of AT&T on Thursday. The Federal Communications Commission still must sign off on the deals.

The announcement also raises the question of whether SBC Park, which has already once changed its name following SBC's acquisition of Pacific Bell, will again change its name to incorporate the new AT&T brand name.

According to spokesman John Britton, SBC will begin the transition to the AT&T brand once the merger is completed.

"There is no timetable to changing the name of the ballpark," Britton said Thursday. "No decisions have been made about what the name will be."

In 2003, SBC acquired Pacific Bell, which paid $53 million in 1996 for the naming rights to the stadium until 2019. Sports fans have long complained about stadium name changes and the encroachment of corporations into sports.

Indeed, many Giants fans have continued to refer to the Giants' home stadium as "Pac Bell Park."

Britton said that SBC plans to work closely with the Giants and other sports franchises that partner with the company, which includes the SBC Center, home of the San Antonio Spurs, and SBC Classic golf tournament in Los Angeles, to come up with a new name and discuss when to make the change.

"Sometimes teams have printed tickets in advance or have other concerns," Britton said. "We're very sensitive to the great partnerships we have."

San Antonio-based SBC holds a 60 percent ownership interest in Cingular Wireless, which has more than 52 million cellphone customers. It also offers DSL Internet access, and satellite TV service.

AT&T traces its roots as a company back to the 1876 invention of the telephone by founder Alexander Graham Bell.

SBC, one of the "Baby Bells" created by the 1984 breakup of AT&T's national monopoly, used to be called Southwestern Bell.

Grrr. Not another name change. The AT&T Bricktown Ballpark just doesn't have the ring to it that Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark or SBC Bricktown Ballpark has. Oh well, everyone calls it The Brick anyway.

How about the company formerly known as AT&T now known as Southwestern Bell Communications Bricktown Ballpark to be formerly known as the Southwestern Bell Communications Bricktown Ballpark soon to be known as the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.

I think that should fit the sign nicely !!

Cool - Modesto has grown in leaps and bounds - almost unrecognizable now - homes everywhere!

I'm from San Jose, CA and moved to Hollister....

This is most likely the new logo you'll see on the Brick.
