Hi Eric, I mean this sincerely and not as a jab at you personally. There is a big difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. All Veterans who are thanked on Memorial Day know to respond with a very nice, "I'm with you in remembering those who died for the country," or many similar lines, to reinforce the day of remembrance for those who died in battle or as a result of injuries suffered while serving in the military .

I do know the difference. And I also know how important this day is to the surviving as well. That's why I said what I said. it wasn't an accident. Many of whom carry the weight more than most of us know and live with holes in their lives forever. It is a day to remember them as well. You can do what you please.

Not to mention that Never Forget is even more apt considering we are remembering the fallen.

We have Veterans Day for Veterans, Memorial Day is for those who have fallen. It may be important to fellow vets and those still on active duty (I’m lowering my flag Monday morning in memory of someone who died in uniform in a plane crash 6 days ago, a somber reminder of the meaning of the day for me), but just because it is important to vets doesn’t make it a day about vets or for vets.

So like Blue said: don’t thank a vet, but join them in remembering their fallen comrades.

Just remember during Memorial Day.

Young people gave their lives so we can have free discussions. Thank their families; thank a veteran; thank Jesus; thank anyone and everyone for their sacrifice.
