Thread: OG&E Substation 10th & I-235

I tried looking through the OK Historical Society webpage for any info on what is now owned by Neighbors, the address is 5 NE 12th St. Looks like a neat building but all I know is that it used to be a Business Records Storage facility before Neighbors acquired it. Does anyone know what this building start life as? And when?

Bert Belanger -- a prominent local broker and developer -- has been involved in this project for some time.

wish they'd have a better fencing wall, like an urban designed substation. ...

You scooped him again, gosh, what a surprise - from today's chat:

    Gary T said:
How close are we to having the electric grid on 10th and 235 moving completely?

    Steve Lackmeyer replied:
It can't be too much longer. The new substation appears to be nearly or completely finished. And that corner where the station was located will be pretty prime real estate.

I don't know why people haven't figured out he talks out of his arse about half of the time.

And half his chat questions (and a good number of his answers) are from OKCTalk, but he edits out any reference to us.

They have started to dismantle the old substation on 10th.

I'll take some drone photos soon as most of the related equipment is still in place but they have started working on it.

I can't help but wonder, why did the move take so long? Over two and a half years seems on the long side.

It probably wasn’t a high priority item for them. Work on it as you have equipment and crews available?

Drove by this morning and everything is down, but not hauled off yet.

Is anything planned for the old location? Will this be OCURA land to put out for bids?

It's owned by a private party (OG&E swapped land with them for them new substation to the north) and it is for sale.

I think that’s across the street from Kamps 1910 and a short walking distance to a hand full of restaurants on 9th street.

Love how the new substation with newer tech takes up less space and is a lot less "Busy". Difference is night and day between them.
