Thread: Restaurant closings

  1. Default Re: Restaurant closings

It was from a new account though (elkvalleybeer vs elkvalleybrewery), which makes me wonder if someone - maybe a larger group - bought the brand and will simply produce the product for store shelves. Elk Valley's biggest strength was always their branding. To be clear I have no special insight; this is only speculation. I did hear second hand that John Elkins had sold all of his equipment and was personally done with running a brewery.

Edit...just found this on their website:

In the early 2010s, our beers was making the rounds and winning awards at national beer festivals as home brew. At the time, craft beer enthusiast John Elkins was simply passionate about making beer he loved and found that others enjoyed it too.

Since 2014, Elk Valley has been a staple craft beer found in restaurants and bars all over Oklahoma; until our OKC facility was unfortunately closed at the end of 2022.

Since then, we’ve been working on bringing back the same beers you know and we love!

We’re excited to announce that we have a new facility, a bigger team, and are gearing up to bring more of our craft back to your local bar or restaurant fall-winter 2023!

Gotta say I enjoyed touring and sampling Woodworks Distilling in the Britton District a couple of weeks ago. I'm far from a whiskey expert but really enjoyed the taste profiles, also.

Such nice people and really a great job on remodeling that old theater.

They make almost everything from tequila to vodka, so lots of options at their bar and you can have El Coyote deliver (or maybe just pick up?).

Not quite sure where to put this, as these are restaurants opening and not closing, but after several months of inactivity, Levitate Grill in the Deep Deuce Aloft opened their bar area--not sure when the full restaurant is planned to open. But sounds like it is still happening. Then in the Deep Deuce shipping containers one of the small suites (1B) has new signage for "Vaca Boba" that is supposed to open soon.

Yeah, super bummed by this. Locally owned, they lasted almost 10 years and had great dishes and amazing bread!

I just can't help but wonder if it was for health reasons? They had a loyal customer clientele.

It does seem odd they didn't sell if this was planned.

Scratch in the Paseo just posted that they are closing down. This is one of my favorite spots and it kills me that a place with such a talented chef is closing down.

Oh man, we just saw their "new" menu a few days ago (not sure when it was actually new) and were going to go back (been there a few times, always excellent), bummer.

Bistro 22 in Edmond closed last week (the sister restaurant of Signature Grill) their lease was up at the end of Oct and they could not agree on acceptable new terms.

a bummer because it was one of our favorites. very small space but it was great

Scratch and Bistro 22 were two of my faves. This is such a bummer.

I like them both as well but I realized I haven't been to either in several years.

Just so many more good choices now.

I think it was in the NewsOk article they said they were going in a different direction for that space. Sounds like they have something planned.

It had been a year or so since we had been to Scratch, but yes, the "problem" is that there are tons of good places to eat now, we're still trying to get to some for the first time that have been open for a few years (we need to step up our eat-out-during-the-week game instead of just going out once a week).
