    Default 2018 Earthquake Discussion

Earthquakes have been acting up lately, so it's as good a time as any to start a 2018 earthquake page. A stronger than usual earthquake happened at 7:14 AM Sat. morning, 13 miles west of Perry, 4.6 in magnitude. It was felt in OKC, Tulsa and Wichita. The Perry area is one of the most active areas for earthquakes in Oklahoma.

Weird earthquake in Edmond this morning. Not strong but it rumbled for a bit longer than usual.

Better hope it doesn't become a series of foreshocks. The earthquake this morning west of Perry was preceded by 7 foreshocks starting late Friday morning.

Yep, it woke me up this morning. I really heard it more than felt it, but knew immediately that it was a quake.

Didn't feel it. But I was also in the middle of my 7:05 and 7:15 alarm so I probably wasn't conscious enough to notice.

It didn’t wake me up. My wife was up and making lunch. I was asleep on the couch and her yelling “We’re having an earthquake” did though. She said she heard it just as much as felt it.

In response to recent earthquakes in Garfield County, the OK Corp Commission has ordered a wastewater disposal well in the area to reduce disposed volume from 17,000 to 5,000 barrels a day. OCC says further actions are possible
