looks like someone is putting in a coffee shp where Abrams Western Cafe/Local Federal Bank was,

"The Applicant seeks to utilize the approximate 2,000 square foot one-story existing
structure located on the one-third acre site at the southeast corner of NW 4th and N.
Western Avenue. The Applicant proposes to open a boutique coffee shop that will feature
small batch roasted coffee and fresh baked goods. The proposed coffee shop will have
seating for 42 patrons. Utilization of the drive thru feature of the site is an integral part of
the proposed use, and is expected to generate at least 50% of total sales. Such a use of the
Property should complement already existing uses along the aforementioned N. Western
    A venue corridor."

Although they stated they were going to use the existing building, it has since been demolished. So they will apparently be putting up a new structured.

The owners are STELLA NOVA 001, LLC

I read (I think on their Facebook) that they used original Crown Heights brick. It'll be nice to have a full coffee shop in the area. They've already opened one in Norman.

Stella Nova Coffee set to open on N. Western and 63rd & May

Owners John Kennedy and Kelli Lay recently opened the first Stella Nova Coffee at 1415 W. Main in Norman in the building formerly occupied by The Cube convenience store.

Now their 2nd location at 4716 N. Western is nearinng completion and they have also filed plans to completely remodel the building on the northwest corner of NW 63rd Street and May Avenue.

Like the Norman, location, both the OKC sites will have a drive-thru.

The group bought the old Abram's Cafe on Western last year and have been busy construction an entirely new brick structure on the site which sits directly across from The Wedge pizzeria.

Kennedy told the Norman Transcript the Western location should be open in February.

Plans filed with the City of Oklahoma City show the 5,040 square foot building at 2901 NW 63rd being reduced to about the half the size with a complete remodel and addition of a drive-thru.

The building had previously been home to Payless Shoes and a check cashing business.

Kennedy also told the Transcript that in addition to their own blend of locally roasted coffee and other hot drinks, Stella Nova will also feature items from OKC's Wheeze the Juice (locations in Deep Deuce and Leadership Square downtown) and Roxy's Ice Cream Social.

Those'll be nice, we'll definitely go, though I wish they would've done something further south on May to take the load off the *$ on 36th/May, it's incredibly busy due to being almost the only coffee shop between Grand Blvd and well, maybe some street way south, but at least to Reno (Belle Kitchen and *$ on Grand, and Leaf and Bean on 36th are the only other ones I can think of).

Isn't Leaf & Bean still at NW 36th & May?

Yep, I mentioned them. They're only open until 1:00 PM, though, so we never get there in time on the weekends (the only time we do specialty coffee drinks). Owner said he has staffing problems, and can't afford to hire any more people or stay open longer. I think he'd kill it if he put up signs around the intersection (or did some social media-ing) that said "Line too long at *$? Come to Leaf and Bean just across the street!"

Agreed. Both are between my work and house and there has only ever been, at most, 1 car ahead of me in line and most of the time you'd never know it's open. Looking forward to another option nearby with Stella Nova.

I'm going to give this place a try! The overall look of the exterior looks pretty good imo. Hopefully the inside will have a good vibe along with great coffee.

I know they used an existing building footprint... but the urban design makes me sad. People that stop in the Norman space love the coffee, etc., so I'm happy there's that option around.

That's my only issue with this too. The building looks great, but the building and parking should have been flipped to be in line with the rest of Western to the south. Excited to try it, though. Vintage Coffee was never open any time I tried to go, and it looks like that space is for lease now. It will be nice to have a professionally run option in this area.

Yeah, it's not great, but it doesn't stand out too much (in either a good or bad way) from what's already existing between 36th and 50th on Western, it's kind of a mish-mosh of buildings. We'll definitely be hitting it up, it's fairly close to us, but still wish someone would open a coffee shop up closer to 36th/May, there's not much in the 1-2 mile radius around there for good coffee shops.

Original article says this one was to open in Feb, anybody know when it'll really be open?

Last I heard was mid-March, with the parking lot poured I bet they have a soft opening any time now.

I saw someone post a pic from their visit last night on Instagram... don't know if it was a soft or a full opening.

I believe they plan to be fully open on the 26th; however, they've been open for a few hours yesterday and a today. I dropped in this morning for a cup of coffee - everything went smoothly. Will definetly be back. It looked like they still had some work to do on the drive-thru.

Side Note: I do not think Vintage Coffee is closed. They posted on their FB yesterday.

Thanks for the info about opening, we'll probably go by in the next few weeks to check things out (we're never the guinea pigs/beta testers for food/drink places in the first month or so ).

I went in after lunch around 12:30. The space is nice and open, and pretty inviting. I wasn't expecting it, but everything was free today... which was a nice surprise.

I went in this morning and also was not expecting my drink to be free. A nice surprise though! I might drop by here often being so close to my house.

It's a really nice little building with a lot of local art on the inside. They really have spent some money.

Looking forward to their new building on the NW corner of 63rd & May, as I'm sure it will go a long way to improving the appearance of that intersection.

I could have sworn I saw a 'For Lease' sign in front of the payday loan/payless shoe building the other day. I did a double take because I remember reading her that Stella Nova was going in there

Stella Nova would've been perfect going in on 59th/May where the old KFC was, unless that's too small of a lot (but I think it's comparable to where they're going now). Would've been way easier to get in and out of.
