    Default Tesla Service Center

    On the Tesla website they show coming soon for an OKC service location. Any word on the exact location or timeline? With Model 3 production starting they'll be opening more locations nationwide in force.

    I believe this has been there for awhile and originally I had heard Auto Alley as the location. With more and more people buying them we really need to get a service location.

    I have a feeling that car dealers are going to attack Tesla in Oklahoma as much as they can.

    Interest in electric vehicle powerhouse Tesla may be short-circuiting where it matters most.

    The number of registrations for the automaker’s EVs recently dropped nationwide, even in one of the electric carmaker’s biggest markets: California. A comparison of Tesla models registered in the Golden State in April 2016 versus April 2017 showed a 24% drop, from 2,867 to 2,177, according to an IHS Markit Report.

    Nationally, Tesla registrations went from 4,334 to 3,911—a nearly 10% decline. This is unfamiliar territory for the automobile manufacturer, whose early years saw rapid growth.

    Oklahoma already has some of the most draconian dealership laws, in keeping with our grand tradition of bowing down to entrenched big business and their preference for anything that limits competition and maximizes profits as much as possible.

    It is still before the Model 3. They are cranking out 1,800 a week and going trying to scale to 5,000 a week by next year. If you order a model 3 now you won't get it until 2019.

    I have a feeling they are just getting started. Not many can afford the 100k Model S but a lot more can afford a 40k Model 3.

    It will be interesting to see how things evolve. It's been my observation that sedans seem to be losing market share to SUV's so I don't know how this trend will impact the Model 3. In addition more established manufacturer's are embracing the ev market. Being able to have your car serviced at an established dealer, purchasing from a dealer inventory, and not having to tie your money up in a deposit are compelling reasons to not purchase from Tesla.

    Tesla has over 400k reservations for the Model 3. They are receiving roughly 1,800 new reservations per day (see their earnings call from yesterday). They will be producing 5/k Model 3s per week by December. While traditional automakers are making a few EV models, they haven't embraced it fully and they risk being left in the dust. Not having to haggle with a sales person (clear pricing), no oil changes, and home charging are compelling reasons to buy from Tesla. Not to mention they have the only national charging network of scale. Additional service centers are the next step, even if the state doesn't allow direct sales. For now, they have mobile servicing where a tech will come to your home to service the vehicle which is nice for those farther out from current service centers.

    It's apparent to me you don't fully understand how the Tesla dealership model works. They are very different than Ford or GM.

    Yes, you can have a service center but states with similarly restrictive dealership laws make it very clear they cannot market their products from these centers.

    Yes, I do realize that Tesla sells their vehicles in a different way than the established companies do. The deposit I was referring to was the one for reserving the Model 3. It is way to early at this point of time to say Tesla will be a viable choice in 15 years time. I do understand that when registration numbers decline the need for a service center is questionable.

    Yes, but $1000 outlay for the Model III is clearly not an issue. Just look at how many people were willing to do that. Tesla is the best choice for EV now, and unless the Model III is a huge flop, I don't see that changing. Tesla has grown tremendously and all the haters betting against them this week got a rude awakening, as those who shorted the stock lost millions of dollars.

    I'll admit I'm a huge Elon Musk fan, so I am slightly biased, but the man is driven to do big things and has a great sense. I fully expect him to continue to great things, and as long as he is running the show, Tesla isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They don't need to be traditional. They've proven they can do great things by going against the norm.

    If you are ever around a Tesla dealership I encourage you to go browse. Trust me their people love people coming in just browse and ask questions. If you're real nice they'll probably even give you a ride in a Model S.

    There is currently a mobile Tesla repair center. I saw one being worked on at the Health Sciences Center the other day, in a van marked "Tesla Service". I had planned to buy a Nissan Leaf once the new model was out, or perhaps the EV BMW suv, but if there is a Tesla service center planned, I may reconsider buying a Tesla.

    There is one planned, but regardless Tesla would make sure you're taken care of.

    Given the major changes in the auto market I think it's way too early to say that GM, Ford, or especially FCA will be a viable choice in 15 years time. It sure feels like we're entering a potentially very disruptive time in the automotive industry, in many ways less predictable than even the financial crises/bankruptcies of ten years ago.

    Not to derail the thread but if GM would have embraced the EV1 and others followed suit back in the late 90s, I think this would have been an entirely different story and electrics/battery technology would be so far advanced. Tesla could have possibly not have even been born.

    If Tesla could build a medium to 1/2 ton size PU that had at least 250 mile range loaded they would kill it in this market.

    The Y is an SUV then they are designing a semi. I think it all hinges on how well the 3 does. Yes they are spelling out S3XY with their cars.

    We actually purchased a CPO Model S (2013 P85) and took delivery at the Dallas service center last week. From what I understand, they are planning on making a rather substantial new service center push over the next 18 months to accommodate what is expected to be a very successful Model 3 rollout. If I had to speculate, I'd estimate the OKC service center downtown coming online in late 2018.

    With that being said, the service we received throughout the buying experience (6 weeks from order to delivery) from Tesla puts the dealership model to absolute shame. Every Tesla employee we've dealt with (from our CPO advisor, to delivery specialist, to the Dallas delivery team) has provided us with exceptional customer service, going above and beyond to exceed our expectations. They've certainly made believers out of us.

    I am guessing this service center never came to fruition? I saw a bill in the legislature the other day allowing automakers to sell directly to consumers in Oklahoma but don't know how far that will get against the dealership lobby.

    The big automakers dont have any incentive to sell directly to the customer. They already sell to the dealerships to make their buck. Then they get to wash their hands of all of the issues that go with having a distributed sales network/employee benefits/etc. This would really only help someone like Telsa/Maybach/etc where they sell directly to the customer already as their main model. It just means they would be able to come here. They're not going to create a whole dealership setup just to sell in OK.

    I hope that bill allowing direct sales passes. Also it would be nice to see Sunday sales legalized.
