This facility is now officially open.
Just in time, too. It should add to our bed capacity.

Wonder if their wishing they built it to the designed height... for the capacity
OU pays their nurses much better than integris. Integris is having to raise wages and offer bonuses just to keep talent from moving to OU. They won't have any problem staffing both towers.
I saw a rendering suggesting Elemental coffee is going into the new tower??
I may be wrong but it seems this project was started and completed faster than Devon could replace their broken windows.
^^^ But they eliminated the top 4 floors on this one.
I still hate how hospitals so mismatched their buildings. They always look like a architecture classroom got together and everyone refused to talk to each other about their own part. I get not wanting to date it, but you can make it blend better than that.
Regardless, the patient rooms have to be a million times better than they were in the old tower. If i remember right, the old tower was some of the first private rooms in town, hence their very small size.
And the rooms in that tower always seemed to be 15 degrees hotter than they should be, regardless of the time of year. So hats off to them for making their improvements, regardless of if im not a fan of the design.
Now if they'll get off their high-horse and stop arguing with Blue Cross for more money. They've tried to make themselves as the good buy, but they're the bad guy. If they get what they want, it means a premium increase for BCBS members that have zero choice in which insurance they have. Extra payments out to one hospital does not happen for free and we as the "customers, if you can call us that, are who pay for it.
That's an ugly building!
The real beauty of this project.
THE GOOD...
...FUTURE EXPANSION
I noticed the article says those missing 4 floors can still be added.
Well, when they do add the 4 floors, it'll definitely make a statement. Up to you to decide what that statement is, but you can't deny that it will be a large presence in that healthplex skyline.
I wonder if they'll doze the old structure when they do that and start a new structure on those grounds......
was just in OKC and I have to say this makes a better presence than I thought (or the pictures convey).
Yet I still believe they should add the 4 floors anyway, esp if you're going to build a building completely different style than the rest. ...
