Default Stillwater Carmike 10 Begins Transition To AMC

    http://www.stwnewspress.com/news/car...8793b45f6.html

    Factoids:

-Carmike has been operating out of Columbus since 1982, when businessman Carl Patrick purchased the movie-theater chain Martin Theatres from Fuqua Industries and renamed it using the first names of his two sons, Carl and Mike.

    -AMC is China owned.

Interesting.... Just one more reason for me to continue patronizing The Warren other than going to the Crossroads AMC is like paying full price for the $1 theatre experience.

Sounds like AMC won't upgrade the sorry Carmike experience by much. But why should it, since a number of Carmikes had no competition in the towns they were in. So AMC made a smart buy.

The new Carmike 8 they built in Ardmore a few years ago is a decent theatre as far as small town theatres go. All digital screens now.

Can we not get a decent theatre in town?! They should demolish and build new! Even if at the same location. At least a major facelift would be great. I remember when they were proposing a new theatre out west where the La Qunta is located.

Right. The oldest part of Stillwater Carmike is around 30 years old. I don't know if AMC can or wants to improve much upon the old.
