Driving up I-35 the other day, this makes a good impact in Bricktown.

Sheridan in Bricktown desperately needs some life.

It has recently lost: Henry Hudson's Pub, Spaghetti Warehouse, Nona's/West, Tapwerks and nearby Chelino's.

Oh darn, we used to go to Tapwerks quite a bit before covid... BT is looking so different now.

Yes, on the ground floor. I believe there will be some tables along Sheridan.

Maybe rents will crater and the district will become a hot spot for reinvestment (in a few months after the vaccine takes effect).

There will be a Starbucks in the SW corner of this building with a few outdoor tables along the street.

i suppose that the hotel will bring tons of built-in demand... but i can't help but think that this is super close to the one in the centennial.

I've been to hotels with a Starbucks that was manned by hotel staff, so maybe similar

Always the possibility that the lease on the one in Centennial is nearing an end. Marriott Hotels make Starbucks more cash than the locals that own the Centennial building.

    Perfect.

It could be the case the hotel wants it there so they have very favorable lease terms or possibly extremely low rent or basically non existent rent to have it as an amenity. Which makes it affordable for Starbucks to have locations close by?

    Just a thought.

Disclaimer: I haven’t spoken about this particular topic with either the hotel developer or the folks who own the Centennial but pretty sure the one south of Reno isn’t going anywhere, and also think it’s likely that - as Shawn suggests - it will be a hotel-owned foodservice that sells Starbucks branded product under a licensing agreement rather than a corporate owned or franchised Starbucks. This is very common in the hotel industry and in fact has been the model at the (now former) Renaissance in the CBD.

But either way I am pretty sure that the two locations can easily coexist,

The Marriott location will be a full Starbucks with inside and outside seating, external signage, etc.

The old Renaissance (now the Wyndham Grand) merely serves Starbucks coffee from their own cafe (Caffeina's).

Great news for downtown workers. That is much closer to the CBD. It will likely draw completely different customers than the one a long block south, as crazy as that seems.
