BTW, I know it's "side effect", not "side affect". That was bugging me. Ha.

Alex Jones is truly a nobody who, I'd bet, has less real listeners than Antifa has members/followers. I'd not even heard of the guy until the social media folks started banning him and the regular media started mentioning his name and goofy conspiracies.

Despite how nutty he may be, I found it ironic the ACLU actually is questionning social media banning him. He's definitely fringe but no more so than Antifa, Kathy Griffin, Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez, Sarah Jeong, and dozens of Twitter bloggers, web site operators8$7u77

If they would have just said that the reason was that Alex Jones says slanderous stuff all the time (which he does from what I can tell), I doubt all this stuff would have flared up. As it went, it sounded more like they were banning him because they didn't like his opinion (which admittedly is nuts).

Let's talk Fake News. On FoxNews. Eric, you wanted to talk about committing a story, well here you go.

Not one mention of Cohen's guilty plea directly implicating Trump as guilty in multiple felonies. In fact, as the beneficiary and director of those multiple felonies.

In fact, only one story mentions the Cohen plea, and that's a story about the impact of Cohen and Manafort on midterms. There's a story about a possible Manafort pardon, but not about his conviction.

I don't know what FoxNews you were reading/watching but it was reported yesterday afternoon - that Cohen's guilty plea did NOT directly implicate Trump but used terms that obviously identified who was meant (something about not being able to name people not already defendants in the trial). It was Cohen's lawyer who directly implicated Trump and it has been discussed on FoxNews all morning. It is also on FoxNews web site with a main article and subarticles.

I looked at Foxnews online. They do have stories on Cohen up now.

Cohen's pleading did directly implicate Trump, it just didn't use his name. The government filed a plea where the Justice Department says that the President is guilty of directing and benefiting from two felony conspiracies.

Clinton was impeached for perjury in a civil deposition. This is worlds more serious than that.

Yeahhhhh, Fox did have stories up yesterday. They weren't at the top of the screen because of the Tibbits murder news from Iowa, but they were there. You simply may have missed it. The TV Fox covered it extensively yesterday, too.

Cohen - I think that is what I said, it was obvious who Cohen was referring to.

..... for a standing President but at least with Trump, it was two consenting adults with the action clearly out in the open and understood. With Clinton it was a person of extreme power over a white house intern. Both are bad, yet Clinton is still loved, respected and revered by the left while Trump is one of Satan's children.

i don't think anyone hates trump because he had sex with a porn star.... i think it has much more to do with other things he has done.

Clearly, Trump's real problem isn't that he had affairs with these women, but that his lawyer paid them off during the campaign to make it not be so clearly out in the open and understood. Both are bad, the cover ups are what give them legal trouble, and, really, all of it is politically facilitated by entrenched partisans providing cover.

You need to step back from the ledge a bit there buddy. Not every story about anything in the country revolves around Trump. This is why the term TDS was invented.

Paying the pornstar? I mean really, this seems to be fairly common practice.

I'm fairly certain that this "practice" has been performed by Trump many more than these two occurrences. Which is why I tend to believe this isn't a campaign issue at all. Presidential run or not, Trump would be paying off women to keep their mouths shut.

I don't make the rules. A guy just pleaded guilty to it.

Where the hell did you get that? "Approaches Rape"

What he did was very scummy because of the imbalance of power and age between them, but she was a 22 year old adult and has never said anything about coercion or anything else less than the affair being consensual.

Quit making crap up Jerry, it has become quite the habit for you.

No, no problem with these affairs. It's pretty gross, but that's on him.

Now the couple of dozen women who have accused Trump of sexual misbehavior varying form peeping on underaged girls on up to rape. Those "affairs" I take issue with.

Well the guy that did make the rules (former FEC commissioner) said it wasn't a crime too, so...

I agree with you. Others dont seem to. They dont understand the implied coercion with a 22 yo intern verses the most powerful man in the world.

But paying a porn star for sex is so much worse evidently.

Jerry, that's quite the speedy backup you made, all the way from "approaches rape" to "implied coercion", which STILL isn't anything that Lewinsky has accused Clinton of, so whatever.

Anyway, in the real world one of those two events was criminal and is sending a man to prison with a Justice Department court filing accusing the president of being an unindicted co-conspirator and the other, despite years and millions of dollars in investigations, was not found to be illegal in any way. Clinton's actions were scummy, he's a scumbag. This isn't news.

But you tell me which action is worse, because only one is a crime. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Well, he just pleaded guilty to that crime and when the court asked him if he knew it was a crime, he said 'yes'. I guess the former FEC guy wasn't there to correct the court.

Honestly, I wouldn't equate them for a lot of reasons, but I don't find either of them excusable.

Also, I don't think Trump paid them for sex, or, at least that's not what's at issue. I'm not even sure paying them hush money is the problem. Cohen pleaded guilty to paying them money to influence the 2016 election. That's the crime.

Ok, honestly, this line of logic was confusing me and I felt I must be missing something, then I remembered @realDonaldTrump exists and I think I get where it's coming from now.

Were we actually talking about this?:

Trump cites 'massive' Obama campaign finance violation. Experts say Cohen's case is different.
NBC News fact checks the president's latest claims about his former lawyer's guilty pleas.

“What Michael Cohen has admitted to doing is absolutely a crime,” said Mitchell Epner, a former federal prosecutor who is now of counsel at Rottenberg Lipman Rich P.C.

Cohen, who was Trump's longtime lawyer, pleaded guilty to violating two campaign finance rules — willfully causing a corporate finance violation and making an excessive campaign contribution. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and involved hush-money payments to two women who said they had relationships with Trump.

Trump's name didn't come up in the federal courtroom in Manhattan, but Cohen said he had paid two women, apparently porn actress Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal, "at the direction" of an unnamed candidate in 2016, and that a $150,000 payment in August 2016 was for the "principal purpose of influencing" the 2016 presidential election. Both Daniels and McDougal have said they had past sexual relationships with Trump.

Asked if he knew that what he did was illegal, Cohen told the court yes.
So, what he pleaded guilty to is, in fact, a crime.
