They are actually taking the side space along Harvey; the main showroom space is still for lease.
Here are the newest renderings:
I was trying to figure out what was different that made the original building more appealing and figured it out. The original building had a ledge around the curved part with their name on it. It really broke the large front blank facing. Still a much better improvement over what was there
I couldn't find a forum thread for this, just this news article (https://www.okctalk.com/content.php?...building-sells), but per this Gardner Studio IG post, it seems to be theirs now?

Ah thanks. I swear I searched high and low...

Now we are big league city, we can give tourists directions in relation to the Chrysler Building.
Much of the time, sign work is contracted out to one firm that does the design, and a second one fabricates the actual signs. Sometimes this sort of thing will be present on the design blueprints. Other times the fabricator doesn't follow the plan sheets and errors are introduced at that stage. Sometimes it is both, and for whatever reason, ODOT appears to do zero error-checking at any point in the process.
I wish there was a more thorough investigation as to why, though. You don't see this level of unprofessionalism in any other state (except possibly New Mexico).
I lived a couple block from there in April 1995, and all the showroom windows were blown out in the bombing. When the glass on the SE corner was replaced (directly below "Able Rents & Sales") I recall they used glass panes that were about a foot wider than the original, IIRC. Glass was hard to come by then, and I guess they used what they could get, or weren't worried about appearances. But, the wider panes threw off the optics of the flow around the corner and bother me to this day. I sure hope they use more narrow panes in the remodel.
I thought they were going to restore the original facade, maybe paint it, but there's just another facade going over the original after they took down the previous non-original facade?
But.....the window area is being restored back to it's original size. The top line will line up with the bottom of the second story windows, instead of the top of the first story. Also restoring panes going northward.
