Airline giant American Airlines Group Inc. (Nasdaq: AAL) has brought in a development team to begin construction on a new 1.8 million-square-foot headquarters on its nearly 300-acre corporate campus in Fort Worth.
Skipworth, who has worked at American Airlines for nearly 21 years, said the Fort Worth-based airline will have enough room on its campus to house up to 11,000 employees upon completion of the five-building, 1.8 million-square-foot addition.

“We think they will have a very innovative design,” Goff said. “We are not going to win the quantity contest, but we do want to win the quality contest.”
The campus expansion also includes a fitness and wellness center that will be available to all of American Airlines employees. Skipworth said he expects construction could be completed on the center at the same time as the five office buildings.

Construction on the new campus is slated for completion by summer 2019. American Airlines plans to achieve LEED Gold certification with the campus.

Why do posters focus on growth and prosperity in other cities rather than here? What impact does it have on improving the employment, Q of L or status of OKC. I don't get it. Move to Dallas, Houston, FW, Kansas City, Omaha or anywhere else, but I do not care what is happening in those places, I DON'T LIVE THEIR. Just my OPINION so don't rant. And yes, I do not live in OKC, BUT I am a native Oklahoman and therefore my interest in OKC issues.

I like seeing how other cities are improving and what is being built. For me its interesting to follow. I grew up in the DC area and wish I could find a site like OKCTalk for DC/MD/VA area. And I especially enjoy Sic 'Em posts on this thread.

One of the great things about OKCTALK is that readers can choose which post they want to read and ignore the ones they don't care about. Posts about what is happening in places other than OKC provide context to development that is occurring here. They have the potential to stimulate ideas and imagination about what can be. Having information about how developments are impacting other places helps us to determine how we would like our city to grow. You don't have to be a big time developer or government official to have an impact on how OKC is developed. These posts can contribute to having an better informed opinion.

Maybe it has something to do with the thread being titled "Fort Worth / Arlington (Tarrant County)" which is located under the "Other Communities" forum where posters enjoy talking about other communities in an area of the site specifically designed for that purpose. If you don't want to read or discuss content focused on other communities, you could just, you know, avoid the "Other Communities" sub-forum and stick to the other 99% of threads that specifically discuss issues and projects in the Oklahoma City Metro and the rest of Oklahoma.....

IMO it is very inclusive of the forum to include sub-forums like this. Think how many post on here and are interested in OKC but don't even reside there any more. Doesn't mean they don't care. Or that they don't care about their own home town/residence. Human emotions/feelings are a deep complicated thing and can be varied and diverse.

What’s next for Roanoke? A luxury hotel and conference center

A 300-room Peabody Hotel would be built south of the existing restaurant row, near where a new City Hall is under construction. Plans released Thursday call for 300 rooms and suites, a restaurant, two bars, a high-end spa and fitness center and a large rooftop swimming pool. There also would be more than 30,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

In a statement, Douglas V. Browne, president of Peabody Hotels & Resorts, said the hotel project “is still very much in the planning and financing stages.” But the developer, Bluff City Group, said it hopes to open the hotel within the next two years.

The hotel would be located along an extension of Oak Street south of the downtown strip, where Babe’s Chicken is located, as part of a new mixed-use project being developed by the Integrity Group of Justin. The area will include the new City Hall, residential units, retail space and offices, said Scott Campbell, Roanoke’s city manager.
The Peabody, which dates to 1869, was restored and reopened in 1981. The property is known for its ducks, which swim in a fountain in the hotel lobby and waddle through the hotel daily. A fountain with ducks is also planned for the Roanoke property.

DFW places second, only behind NYC, in apartment delivery for 2017.

    Via Rent Cafe:

Dallas-Fort Worth, the job-centric Texas mega-hub that has seen the largest population increases in the entire country, adding approx. 143K new residents from 2015 to 2016, is second when it comes to new apartment supply.

No less than 25,000 new units are planned for completion this year, making Dallas even more desirable for renters who seek affordability and variety in their housing choices. The local rental market is relatively stable with rent growth at a moderate 3.5% y-o-y. Average rents in the Metroplex hover around $1,094, significantly lower than the national average and half of what New Yorkers shell out on rent on a monthly basis.

Moreover, with a diverse economic sector and steady job growth, the employment picture is rock-solid in D-FW, so it’s no wonder young professionals are arriving in droves.

General Electric to move up to 225 locomotive production jobs to Fort Worth from Erie, Pa.

    GE FW Location

The transition would begin next year between April and June and would involve a recall of Fort Worth employees laid off earlier this year. It would also eliminate locomotive production at the Erie plant, which employs more than 2,500 people, by the end of 2018. About 575 jobs in Erie would be affected.

The move was necessary to drive efficiency and preserve U.S. jobs, said Richard Simpson, GE Transportation's vice president of global supply chain.
"Our Fort Worth facility is very competitive, and as a result, this allows us to compete in a very tough space," Simpson said.
