Thread: Newcastle Hospital

    Default Newcastle Hospital

I think we need a folder for posts related to Newcastle, Blanchard, etc. But, the Chickasaw Nation has announced plans for a million square foot hospital to be built in Newcastle. It will be for Native Americans, but will employ up to 3,500 people when built. It will be built at 62 and 16th Street. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing anything about a timeline, but from what I read the city needs to upgrade some utilities in the area. If this is built, it will be a BOOM for Newcastle.

With the turnpike addition coming soon Newcastle is set to explode in growth. I think we will see more announcements like this for the Newcastle area soon after the addition is completed.

And all of the cities in the Tri-City area are in the Top 10 for median annual income in Oklahoma..... Retailers will go where the cash is.

Have you got a source for this? This would be wonderful for my wife; she has a chronic condition that requires us to have to drive to the Chickasaw hospital in Ada periodically. It would be wonderful to have a facility closer to the city.

3,500 jobs!! Would be one of the largest employers in the state and located in that tiny town.

In Newcastle, just southwest of Oklahoma City, we are taking our next major step in providing health care to First American residents in the metro area. We are currently in the planning phase to build a large, new hospital there.

The new hospital will offer numerous outpatient and specialty services and should directly employ as many as 3,500 people. We are currently in the early planning stages, we are in partnership with Indian Health Service as we have before, on how to best utilize the facility and serve our First American population in the area.

This new hospital, like the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, is a joint venture with Indian Health Service.

Did they accidentally add a zero? How big is the Chickasaw nation? According to wikipedia it's approx 60,000....

Regardless, a new hospital will definitely spur development in an area that is already a hotspot for the metro's ever-advancing urban sprawl.

This would be for Native Americans in general, not just Chickasaws.

Will be just a massive facility. Imagine the Mercy Hospital campus in Newcastle.

Will have a huge staffing problem there. Medical staffing is already stretched thin in the state.

Wow that's perspective. Just curious is Mercy's campus bigger than Integris Baptist? I've always thought Baptist of being the larger one, but maybe you were just using the comparison because it's more relatable, than meaning Mercy's was the biggest.

Also I noticed it was mentioned at NW 16th and Main St, does anyone know if that's west across from the church or North?

Baptist has more beds; once you factor in all the out-lying buildings I think both are pretty close in size.

I don't believe it will be at 16th & 62 -- I believe it will go south of Newcastle. They are going to need a ton of space.

That makes a lot more sense. Thanks for the info.

For comparison, the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada is 360,000 sf.

It is 16th, but it's South, not North (SW corner of S.16th and Highway 62)
