Florida has it. California has California.gov. I seem to recall several other states having it now as well. I think it is a new trend.

    That bird is not dope...

Gonna agree with Urbanized...it's either Original Flag '46, since I'm into retro or Don't Tread On Me...

Feel free to peruze the plates. There's a lot more better than that bird...

What's amazing is that any one of those vanity plates on the list looks 100% better than this new mandatory standard replacement. And no, I don't care to carry advertisement for their website either.

I just tagged up for the year about a week ago, but that original Okla 46 is starting to look pretty good.

The one we have now it's at least designed semi-well... This new one, the more I look at it, looks very cheap.

Agreed. The Okla 46 is actually kind of cool. I will probably end up with it.

Starting to realize that was the idea. Ugly base tag...upgrade to one that doesn't induce wretching.

I hardly ever look at my own tag so eh why should I care if it looks like a retro Johnathon Livingston Seagull lunch box.

I have not seen the OK 46 state flag plate on the road at all, but that is a GREAT design. I guess we'll be able to i.d. OKCTalkers pretty easily now, given the comments above! I could go with the Route 66 one easily too, very clean look--but it is comparatively expensive to renew! We have A LOT of options, which is nice. I actually like the new design pretty well, but I think the current plate has a bit more sophisticated look and therefore makes a better impression. The background of the new plate is a bit busy for my taste.

You might say the state gave the people the bird.

Random semi-pertinent question—would anyone happen to have a list of the county codes used in the upper-right corner of the plate? Some are obvious (OK = Oklahoma, CL = Cleveland) but others are a little more obscure (ML = McClain County, guess MC went to McCurtain). Googling doesn't turn up anything useful (mostly county codes for the old green/white Native America plate).

This Wildlife Conservation plate is a much better execution of what this could have been, IMO.

I sure hope they never let the domain name lapse and some porn site pays to register it before they realize what has happened.

While I understand completely the feeling that this was designed purposely to drive people to purchasing vanity/specialty plates, I disagree. I don't think it was designed at all. The purpose was to start getting that $5 fee ASAP, there was no time to go through a submission phase, selection phase, and voting phase. I would bet good money that during the design process the words "We don't care, just slap something together" or something similar were uttered.

Since travelok.com has been a cornerstone of Tourism's (considerable) marketing efforts for a couple of decades now, I'd say it's pretty unlikely to happen.

The design of the New License plate reflects the character of the Elected Governor ..... Birdbrain ... At least Alaska is Creative ,they have a grizzly standing on 2 feet on there plate

Guess that's one way to stop it. Get the photographer to make a copyright claim? I can't imagine this falls under fair use.

I still can't believe we're wasting time on this. I think some people just want to bitch. I've seen MUCH worse design.

^That's really all this board does anymore is complain about things. The design is fine.

The design could have been way worse or way out from left field. I think this design is a major improvement over our current one and still has an Oklahoma theme.
While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, reading some of the comments here and elsewhere... It seems to me some people hate it and are tying it to Fallin and Republicans, making it political and thus saying how trashy, boring, tacky, ugly, etc. it is.

I just wanted a license plate that I thought would be an improvement from our current one and think this one is. I sincerely would not have cared which party was living in the mansion, this goes beyond that.

And to the people saying they won't support the travelok site advertised, you do realize that by saying that, you're not helping promote and advertise out of state dollars to be spent within our borders? That's money that can help fund all of those precious things some of you want.

I swear, sometimes some Oklahomans are the most self-depressing, self hating bags of air to ever grace this planet. Moan and groan and complain.
Come January I'm going to enjoy taking that turd off my car and placing this snazzy plate on. And on top of that, just to spite some of the Scrooges, I'm going to go to the travelok site and pick my next Saturday destination!
