Reports I've seen said longstanding heart condition. She famously struggled with addiction in the seventies and eighties, but reportedly had been clean for a very long time (30+ years). Who knows...she may have damaged her heart with past drug use. She did contract hepatitis from heroin needles. That said, she was 65, and heart disease in a 65 year old is of course common, anyway.

Anyway, beautiful lady, beautiful voice. R.I.P.
