    Midtown Chrysler Plymouth Building

This property is 301 NW 13th is now for sale.

Super expensive but could be a cool restaurant space plus offices.

Awesome! I'm anxious to see what happens to this property.

Our organization shares office space with several other companies on the west end of this building. The space for sale is really cool, and could be rehabbed into a number of things. From what I've been told, all the original stuff is just covered up (as in, drop ceilings, the exterior panels where windows used to be, etc.). This space could be awesome if restored to its former glory.

One of the challenges to the sale of this building might be that there is no dedicated parking. St. Luke's owns the parking lot directly north that abuts the building.

My husband has some old pictures showing the original exterior facade. I'll try to find them and post.

The showroom shot above looks like it dates to about 1950 judging by the new Chrysler models on the floor.
Maybe the same time frame for the shop photo as that's a '46-'49 Chrysler Town & Country convertible,

According to the County Assessor, it was built in 1947.

These would be great to see. Is the current exterior close to the original?

Don't be fooled by those pebble concrete panels. The curved part used to be almost all glass, if memory of those photos serves.

That's awesome! I hate the pebble panels!

    Agree

That's why I think Edmond North is such an ugly school.

All right, I can't find the ones hubby has, but here are a few from the OK Historical Society archives. Looks like this was before the second floor was added.

That last picture is incredible. What was the 3-story building on the south side of the street?

I suspect an apartment building, just because everything else was still residential. Pete might know for sure.

You are correct. In the mid-50s I knew someone who lived there.

    Historic Chrysler Plymouth building sells

A former Chrysler dealership in the Midtown area has sold to a prominent local development group.

The Pivot Project group – redevelopers of Sunshine Laundry, Tower Theatre and more – purchased the 1946 building earlier in the month for $1.885 million.

The property on the northwest corner of Harvey and NW 13th has been for sale for several years and is currently home to Able Rents.

The streamlined exterior has been covered with a concrete aggregate facade but the 2-level showroom is still largely intact with a large staircase leading up to a mezzanine level and original tile floors.

At some point, the western section of the former dealership was split off to separate ownership, and that building is renovated office space called The Monterey.

The remaining eastern portion contains nearly 32,000 square feet on two levels.

I've long thought the Monterey folks would eventually buy this half and incorporate it into their development but I guess not.

That was my thought as well. But this is great news.

I don’t know if a better group could’ve gotten their hands on this... big news

I think the exterior changes were done after the Murrah Building was bombed. I lived a few blocks away at the time and all the windows were blown out of that showroom area (same happened to the Bob Moore Oldsmobile building at 13th and Broadway). I remember that the building looked so much worse after the “clean up”, and I don’t think it was just because they put in much wider glass panels

My only hope is that this is epoxy or polyaspartic coating and not polished concrete.

They have submitted the renovation plans to design review:
