New Japanese ramen place coming to NW 8th just east of Hudson. This little building, like the one for Jerky.com right around the corner, is owned by Ecotex, the large linen service that operates their main facility just to the east.

Thanks to shawnw for scouting this out and providing the photo.

Sounds like another great addition to Midtown.

Here is info from FB page if you were clueless about what this is like I was.

Tamashii Ramen is a restaurant whose main feature is authentic ramen, served fresh using Japanese techniques.

After taking time in Japan to learn from local ramen chefs, Tamashii's chef strives to bring the tastes and feel of Authentic Japanese Ramen shops to Oklahoma City.

Please stay tuned as we keep you updated on our journey towards Tamashii's Grand Opening. Look for building progression and a glimpse into our menu creation.

We can't wait to be a part of your community, see you soon!

I ate at some ramen places when I was in Vancouver and loved it. Excited for this place.

Andrew I was about to say the exact same thing. Ramen is huge in the Northwest. Vancouver had many Ramen places, all with long lines out the door at lunch and dinner.

One of OKC's most popular food trucks is a Ramen truck. So popular that I never eat there because the line is always too long.

L.A., of course, has hundreds of ramen, udon and soba places.

I used to work on the westside near UCLA within walking distance of a Japanese district (much smaller and more gentrified than downtown's Little Tokyo) and there were probably 20 such places and they were all great.

I love Japanese food and these noodle houses are generally pretty inexpensive.

Out here, there also a bunch of Japanese curry places which are also great and cheap. It's another concept that I think would do well in OKC.

Another needed concept: really good teriyaki.

Lots of stand-alone places here that specialize in really high quality chicken, beef and fish cooked on a Japanese grill and served over rice.

Like the noodle and curry places, there are a bunch of these teriyaki places out here and it's a fast and healthy option.

This is awesome... I've been watching Mind of a Chef on Netflix and the first season David Chang had several episodes about different kinds of ramen in Japan.

Made me want to book a flight over there just to eat a steaming hot bowl of ramen!

Different... The truck is called Kaiteki Ramen

There you go. Thanks. I am curious if this Tamashii will have a rule during H&8th that the Kaiteki Ramen truck can't be right around the corner from them. Has that ever been an issue?

Can't imagine that they would be able to impose something like that.

Based on the long lines at H&8th if someone really wanted ramen they could walk over to Tamashii instead... with all the people down there I can't imagine it would hurt their business.

I don't think it would be too hard for the business to approach the organizers of H&8th asking them to put it further away for the sake of their business. The food truck would probably never know, just, "Hey, you are going to be (here) tonight." But like Sooner88 said, it might actually help their business since the lines are so long at H&8th.

Maybe if H&8th was in Communist USSR

This is great. Also I have another food & beverage related for MidTown that hasn't been announced yet. I'll try to post tomorrow.

Glad to finally see this posted. I couldn't find it on OKCtalk.com and didn't want to start a new thread at risk of creating a duplicate. Excited to follow this thread.

Does anyone know of a timeline? I walk by almost daily and haven't seen any activity.

I haven't seen a building permit and nothing has been submitted to design review yet.

Sounds like they've signed the lease, are working on their concept and no doubt draft plans for submission.

Now we just need a teriyaki joint where I can get some real, proper yakisoba, and all of my culinary desires will be sated.
