Default Amazing Pictures of the Earth and Beyond

I have a huge collection of beautiful pictures of this planet, universe, and everything in between. I'll post some, but be warned, they are large but worth it. I have thousands of them that have either been emailed to me or ones that I have found on the internet. Feel free to post yours, but try and give proper credit. I will give credit where I can. Some of them I don't have the sources.

You may have already seen this, PluPan, but it is incredible. From this month's scientific journal NATURE....Finally an idea of what the surrounding galaxies look like. What's amazing is that the solid, bright areas of the supercluster in the photos are galaxies packed so tight together that they just blend in to each other. And to think this is just one supercluster. Oh, that red dot is the Milky Way. Boggles the mind.

A couple of good links that give a quick overview of the Nature piece which is, of course, behind a very expensive paywall.

Love the "You Are Here" marker. Always comes in handy.

Can't help but imagine that the Laniakea supercluster is just one supercluster of many in a larger "super-duper" cluster that we just can't detect at this time, and so on, and so on... We're going to run out of superlatives to describe them.

Yes I did hear about it! It is amazing. Didn't see that picture though. What a sight it would be to have the in your field of vision from afar, if it were possible.

I know almost exactly what you mean. It's incredible. Too much for words to really describe almost.

    PluPan,
I have enjoyed the Isle of Skye. Spent four nights on the island a few years ago and it was great.
