    Default Kickapoo Travel Plaza

The Kickapoos are planning a huge travel plaza on the NE corner of Britton and the Kickapoo Turnpike.

I haven't been a big fan of that new loop. I've tried to integrate it into my travels around eastern OK County, but if you're traveling to Edmond from Shawnee or somewhere east on I-40, they inexplciably made it go back to far north and east to really be useful versus a trip to I-35 or just staying on 40.

Ok, I am going to ask the stupid question: why? Five miles from the turner turnpike and in Jones, OK. Are they just anticipating a lot of growth out there or just trying to make it a destination? Sorry, I am not trying to be cynical, I am trying to understand it.

I’m glad others agree. They built the POS so far east it’s useless. Of course, OKC will sprawl to meet it. It would’ve been better if it went north from the I-40/240 junction.

if the cars in the rendering a true representation of scale, that canopy is easily 30 feet high or a little more.

Is that an RV park to the north of the gas station?

What is currently a weird spur that serves next to no purpose will make a lot more sense and presumably collect a lot more traffic once they finally extend it down to I-35 between Noble and Purcell.

This is also when I’ll finally stop getting annoyed every time I look at Google Maps and see that the OKC Metro now has an I-335 that starts at I-44 and ends at I-40.

Fun fact, there have been interstate projects that have been built to a substantial degree, but never completed to the connector of their cosigned suffix. Here's a vid that further explains these routes and the many reasons why they have or never will be finished.

OKC will never sprawl that far east. It hasn't sprawled more than a couple of miles eastward in my entire lifetime. It hasn't even filled in between Broadway Extension and I-35.

Yeah I never understood why they didn't intersect it with 40/240. They built it wayyyy too far east

In the big picture, the Kickapoo Turnpike will extend and connect to Purcell. It will allow a lot of traffic going to Tulsa to bypass OKC.

Looks to be like it is within the Kickapoo tribal boundaries. Travel stop on an Interstate and maybe some gaming. Economic development for the tribe.
