Thread: Expired prescription medicine

    Default Expired prescription medicine

Coming down with a great deep cough so broke out some Amoxicillin that expired in 2012

Thought I would ask if others do the same and if so how old is too old?

I would think at the very most it would be ineffective as opposed to doing harm although I am no medical expert. Couldn't you just phone the Doc for a refill?

If the bottle hasn't been opened in two years, it's probably still good: most of these things are fairly stable.

That's kind of what I'm expecting but I have missed a good amount of work lately so just trying to make it to the weekend and hit up an Access Medical.

personally, i wouldn't take any med in liquid form that sat that long. If it is in capsules, the packaging ought to say the expire date, either on box or on the foil of the blister packs.
