I hardly subscribe to a description of an athletic department out of control but the basketball team has to be considered a disaster based on the preseason expectations. I'm thinking that Smart wasn't too smart to come back for another year instead of going to the NBA.

Absolutely, not so Smart.
However, as far as coming back, he didn't know Michael Cobbins would go down. Huge blow to an already undersized team.
He didn't know Stevie Clark would be such a juvenile. I'm pretty sure he thought Stevie would provide
some speed and some relief to his position.

As it happens the pressure is revved up much more than he could have imagined because he really thought they'd have a Final 8 type team.
The other thing is he could've been drafted high last year but it was unwarranted and some NBA team would've suffered. His
skills don't match the hype and his temperament certainly is a factor in possible NBA success.

The fan, Jeff Orr, apparently has a history of berating players. Social media is a buzz over him, including flipping off a Texas A&M player a few years ago.

The Cowboys lost at Texas Tech. Marcus Smart lost his cool, if not more.

And now Oklahoma State’s season, already teetering in trouble, may have tipped completely Saturday in Lubbock.

Even when the game was over, OSU officials struggled to contain a shouting and screaming Smart, who had to be escorted off the floor.

And now Smart’s status going forward is in question, with a suspension possible, whether internally from coach Travis Ford or the Big 12 office.

Stupid, I agree. Should Smart be punished? Yes, so he can learn some needed self-discipline. He's young enough to change. How about the fan? He's reportedly 60. Is he going to learn self-discipline? There's a picture of him giving the finger at an A&M game. Freedom of speech be damned. This is occurring at a university where children are being taught to become adults. If an adult cannot model good behavior, he's a bad example to our children. Pull his season ticket and ban him from as many game days as Smart is suspended. Fair is fair.

Fans act crazy everywhere. We start banning fans for idiotic behavior, there will be a lot of empty seats. What about the "bull****" chant that's gone on for years? Absolutely no excuse for Marcus. He won't make it far in the NBA unless he cuts those rabbit ears off.

If I put most of you all on a bench for two hours with a 60 year old guy sitting behind you taunting, I bet for almost anyone I could find something for him to say that would cause you to shove him. Lets be honest here.

Put the "crazy" fans (who should be ashamed of themselves for acting like children, btw) in the second tier, not behind the players. If we're trying to teach our young men and women sportsmanship, why should we reward adults for the lack thereof? If you can't model adult behavior, you don't belong near students.
