10 to Know: Hip Hotels

Is it me or does the Renaissance Arts Hotel building in New Orleans look a lot like the building at Main and Classen? I think it was/is an hold Ford Motor parts warehouse..?

Anyway, I thoght it looked like a nice re-use of an old structure and some have expressed interest in that area of OKC. Also, it's a pretty good list of fun hotels.

I have never known of ANY hotel or motel being placed on anyones "top ten" list. Just one of the things the city needs to change.

I also remember reading that the "Most Memorable" running event is the OKC Memorial Marathon. The chuckwagon festival hosted by the Western Heritage Museum also ranked high in some Food TV special. Similarly, the Museum is listed as one of the "10,000 Things To Do Before You Die" book (check)

I think Round Rock would argue the largest Dell facility (it's the world headquarters), as well as the best AAA ballpark (the Dell Diamond is top-notch). Sorry to rain on your parade.

I think Round Rock would argue the largest Dell facility (it's the world headquarters), as well as the best AAA ballpark (the Dell Diamond is top-notch). Sorry to rain on your parade.

I believe these are suppose to be ON THE TOP TEN, not necessarily THE top. Plus, when finished, the Oklahoma City call center will be AS BIG as Round Rock. Plus, many magazines voted our stadium the number one AAA stadium in the nation.

We will have 5,000. The Austin area has three different sites, plus there is another in Waco. The one that is classified as Round Rock only has about 5,000 in the call center. Remember I am employed by Dell. Think about that.

Okay, we are having some confusion. I guess you are only talking call center employment; but you said "largest Dell facility", and in that case you are wrong. Dell employs more than just call center workers in Austin/Round Rock. Waco has nothing to do with what we are discussing. Again, congrats on your call center, but it is not Dell's largest facility. You are correct though about having several sites throughout the Austin/Round Rock metro. But, again, we have manufacturing, call centers, as well as all the corporate offices. Please, do not say Dell's presence is anywhere near the presence here....it just makes you look silly!

I apologize in advance for hijacking this thread; it was not my intent. I simply was trying to correct an inaccuracy I saw, and it's been like arguing with a grade school student. I will refrain from replying to mranderson after this post. If you were to read what I typed, you would see I said 20,000 DELL employees, not 20,000 total employees. And, yes, when you are arguing with someone, and you are so obviously wrong, it makes you look silly, at best. If you think a call center is larger than Dell's corporate world headquarters, that is really hard to comprehend. Bye, now!

That, my friend, is debatable. It's not just native boosters who think the Bricktown Ballpark is the tops. National lists have put it there as well, and just because facilities are newer does not necessarily they better-serving.

But what the hey, Indianapolis and Memphis are really proud of their minor league ballparks too. Sometimes we can be a negative lot on this board, but appreciation for the Bricktown Ballpark is almost universal. The art, historical design, the seat views, and its situation in Bricktown make it a keeper for us Oklahoma Citians. I have no doubt the Dell Diamond is first-rate too.

I have no doubt Bricktown Ballpark is first-rate; I too have heard nothin but great things. I also know that being in Bricktown is better than the Dell Diamond's location in a former corn field. But, I know that Dell Diamond has been rated as the best (or certainly ONE of the best) minor-league ballparks in America. I think it's design, as well as the fact it averages near 10,000 per home game both play into it's rankings, not it's surroundings. I definitely would like to check out Bricktown though, when the Express are playing up there, someday!

?? No one said that. You took the word 'facility' and substituted 'presence' on your own. Besides, I think the topic was what kind of top ten lists would OKC be on. Not that anyone would publish such a list, but if OKC's facility does grow to 5,000, would that put it in the top ten? You may not have wanted to hijack the thread, but changing the criteria in order to post a negative comment is doing just that and was kind of silly in and of itself.

I think everyone one on here would agree that Austin is the mecca for all that is Dell... and rightly so. Stay around, I enjoy hearing others input.

We want you to stay around and post - it is important to hear about how other cities are growing and developing. Plus, most of us here can make valid points and have strong opinions without becoming overly argumentative but some of us get a little passionate about our city. I'm sure you can relate.
