too bad it's not 24+ floors.
Would have been nice if they would have went for the 700 room mark and added a few more floors and then a few more floors of residential on top. And then to top if off my Penthouse on top. That would have made a big statement in my book.

ya, I thought 750 was the original room mark recommended by the consultants. ....

I also recall the original tower was 19 floors. now it's 17 and 605 rooms. .. Uggh. Not even the biggest hotel in Oklahoma.

Between the Omni and the Fairfield (a nice one) there will be 750 rooms adjacent to the CC. Potentially there will be 2-3 Champion hotels built right under the railroad tracks in the old lumberyard area with another 300-500 rooms. Then you have a few thousand rooms available along the streetcar route. Everyone keeps wondering when the streetcar will be viable more than now - when the new CC is built it will be utilized a tremendous amount by convention guests.

And there will almost certainly be a new hotel (or 2 or 3) on the west side of the park.

Mazaheri (Lumberyard) owns property fronting the park on that side.

Uuuuggghhhh. Please, no more 5 story suburban-urban hotels. Either build them taller, or build them with some sort of character or personality. The new Midtown Hotel is a great example of a hotel that isn't tall but has great appeal and designed well. Do more of that. But if we get a bunch more Fairfield Inn's, or Staybridge or Springhill Suites types, specifically around the park, I'm going to be pretty upset.

You know what I'd LOVE to see? Something very similar to the old Hotel Black. Exact same type. 10/11 is stories. Same architecture style, but updated if need be to meet the Core 2 Shore design elements. I just want something unique around the park. 21C Nailed it. The Ambassador nailed it. Aloft is alright. Even The Omni is pretty cookie cutter, based on previous Omni works (not exactly a bad thing, just pointing it out). Give OKC a TRULY unique hotel look and experience with park fronting views, hell, give us TWO, and I'll be pretty dang happy.

I think Biltmore at I-40 and Meridian used to have a sign saying they were, and a lot of travel sites/brochures still tell that tale, but it's 509 rooms. I notice their actual website no longer makes this claim.

I also notice their website seems to match the quality of the hotel, but that's just my opinion.

Not sure if it's the biggest, but the NCED Conference Center in Norman says it has 939 rooms, according to its website.

Aramark operates the hotel now. I think they took it over from Marriott within the last year.

We had the pleasure of taking our 16 month old son to his first Thunder game and he loved it! There is a cool Thunder Deck I wasn't aware of with fire pits and lawn games, pretty cool. This is the pic looking across the street from that deck. I could absolutely see the Thunder put some sort of a Thunder live experience in the space between the arena and the Boulevard. I believe there is an RFP out for that area.

After the first few floors, the rest are are pretty much the same so the structure should soon start rising more quickly.

They are working on the shorter standard floors now on main tower. Should go up a lot faster now.

Looks like it will end up being about 225 feet tall or so. Still wish it were 750+ rooms/22+ floors, those 150 rooms will be missed/regret. With the city giving up so much (in TIF, non-compete) I think we should get more out of this.

Should have more than just one (half) floor for "NBA" type beds IMO. I'd argue for basically 2 floors for the NBA block and then the blocks for convention(s), general public, special suites (Presidential, Executive suites, etc), and perhaps restaurant space ON TOP. ...

Now just hoping they build to the renderings or better.

    Missed opportunity. ..

    MAPS3 Re: Omni Hotel

Had some of my relatives from Albuquerque in the car, the youngest (13) shouted, 'no wonder the Dodgers moved here.' He was really impressed, wanted to know if I could take them to the top of the Devon Tower & the Thunder's home.

Had to show the city off to relatives, so as we left Mustang, we exited off I-40 to Western Avenue eventually got on what was completed of the boulevard, barely could keep my eyes on the road because there was so much to see.

Went to get closer views of The Peake, Skydance Bridge and looked at construction projects like the park & convention center complex.

Took a drive through the area where the Omni is under construction---the Rosebud red streetcar was 1/2 full as it made its route. Looks like they are ready to begin work on the Omni's 5th floor; so impressed was myself with the maze of construction progress.

Hard to appreciate the scale from pictures, but... it's big!
