    Default OKC Police Chief injured

It looks like Police Chief Bill City will not be riding his dirt bike for a while. He took a spill that put him in the hospital. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Oklahoma City Police Chief Bill Citty is recovering in a local hospital after he was injured Thursday night in a dirt bike accident.

Sgt. Charles Phillips said Citty was riding the bike about 9 p.m. at a friend’s house in rural Oklahoma City when the accident happened.

He suffered a concussion and a bruised lung and was admitted to a local hospital, Phillips said. The injuries are not considered life threatening.

Citty was sworn in as police chief in October 2003 after former Chief M.T. Berry was promoted to Assistant City Manager. Citty has been a member of the police department since 1976.

Phillips said Citty is expected to be released over the weekend. Deputy Chief Johnny Kuhlman will serve as the acting chief while Citty is hospitalized.
