Yep. I've never dropped anchor there.

Never had any issues with Richards except for the rather interesting mildew smell about it.

In my hippie daze the Lamplighter was an uppity joint. Blue jeans weren't
allowed. We'd go to the Jail or Jail West until the cops came.

What kind of fancy joints did they smoke there?

I do not know if anyone has mentioned this but the Lamplighter is now Margareta Island. I have never been in there but when I drive buy it appears to be getting quite a bit of business these days.

Why they were mountain grown joints from Oaxaca.
    It's the richest kind.

I find it interesting how small the places are. Back in the daze I
thought the Lamplighter was huge. Seems that everyone wanted
    to hangout in the balcony.

Is the HiLo still open? I remember the fountain in the entry way. The
bar emitted colored lights from the translucent glass inlays. The
bandstand could almost hold a trio. LOL

    Too cool.

Had late lunch at Tacoville yesterday. Went about 115 pm and the place was still packed. Amazing after 49 years of being in business that this little hole in the wall still packs them in. Went with a friend who has been a southsider for 25 years and had never been to Tacoville. He is a fan now. It is incredible to see the mixture of customers from downtown suits to blue collar to college kids that go to this little dive.

If you haven't been there (3502 Newcastle Rd, OKC), give it a try. We had two Sanchos, two tacos, guacamole, taco burger and a chalupa and bill was $18 and change. They make their own hot sauce and is a must have on any item.

Any other tacoville fans out there?

i have known about this place for over 20 years and have never been... i've always imagined it was similar to los tacos, another southside joint that was once a hole-in-the-wall... before moving into a strip shopping center.

Was just talking about it last night at pool league. How they would ask what vehicle you were in and wave at you when your order was ready.... And yep I usually went there a couple of times a week and got a sancho and a butterscotch shake.

Combo burrito in those yellow Tortillas.. and the butterscotch shake was great as well. lots of times we would call it in for the office to make it go a bit faster as that place was so busy around lunch

Yep. Yep.... Wasn't uncommon for someone to come around taking Los Tacos orders before they headed over there.

Always wondered where they got those yellow tortillas because I don't think I've ever seen them used anywhere else.

I loved that location. And what added to the character/ambience of the place was the occasional bullet hole that would appear in the windows/glass.
