I am not sure if it will be a new concept or what it will be, but I thought it would be worth passing on.
Thanks for the super-vague info. Just kidding.

Ya Ive heard from one of their partners that they have another restaurant concept going in there. Can't remember the type of food though.

I know, I know. I would have had more information, but I was having to listen to my wife talk at the same time so I could only retain so much information...

As previously discussed, a new restaurant is going into the space immediately east of Grandad's and west of Cee & Cee at 315 NW 23rd. This is the old Design Resources location.

$85,000 building permit application for 2,538 square feet.

Any updates on what type of food?

Perhaps a tasty Indian place? I wouldn't mind Italian on that stretch either.

I'm glad that spot is filled in, and I wish them luck, but another BBQ resaurant is less than 1/2 a mile down the street.

The one down the street is not a very good one, though. I'm surprised they can pay the rent.

That's not what I was hoping for. Isn't there a BBQ place not that far west on 23rd in the cottages?

Too bad. I haven't been. They were closed the only time I've tried. They're at a 73% on UrbanSpoon, which puts them in a range I would try.

The one time I ate at Bubba's BBQ in the cottages I really liked it.

Not amazing, but solid and I love the setting.

My thoughts exactly on the setting. I would give the food a solid 6.5 or 7.0 of 10, but the setting a solid 9. Feels like it might have been a BBQ place for 40 years.

Steve mentioned a BBQ restaurant is coming to 23rd courtesy of the ladies that started Big Truck Tacos. Do we have a thread? I searched somewhere but couldn't find one. I'd welcome that addition as well!

    Yes, that's been discussed.

There is already a building permit for the space directly east of Grandad's.

Where? In this thread? I guess I overlooked it. I haven't mastered OKCTalk's search function so don't burn me at the stake!

Well, my goodness. I replied to it and everything. I don't know what I was thinking. Apologies for being the forum clown.

There is a lot going on and it's hard to keep it all straight, that's for sure.

    But that's a good thing!

By the way, the restaurant going in right next to Grandad's and rumored to be operated by the Big Truck Tacos people will be called Backyard BBQ.

And Aviano's Italian Gelato & Sorbet (directly east of Big Truck) should be close to opening as well.

per the DOK "food dude" dave cathy it is not a rumor any more it is confirmed that it is by chris lower and 1 of the big truck "taco twins" Kathryn Mathis the other big truck/mutt founder is not the exec chef at 501

although he says that is will be called Back Door BBQ

The building permit said "Backyard BBQ" but they often get things wrong.

    Thanks for the info.

    Back Door BBQ is correct.

They have a Facebook page with quite a few pictures of their food, places they have been, and the namesake back door..

From the Back Door FB page, looks like their space has that same great tin ceiling as does Grandad's (right next door):
