Has anyone gone by? It looks amazing from the street. Our downtown becoming a real downtown! I went inside and the clothes are fabulous and the space looks great. Everyone should spread the word - we want this place to stay in business!

I had seen the building permit but didn't know what it was about... Strange that 200 Park for Her is actually located at 119 N. Robinson in the Robinson Renaissance building.

Oklahoma City native Jan Smith announced she’s bringing street-front retail back in downtown Oklahoma City with her boutique, 200 Park For Her, a women’s clothing shop, owner Jan Smith confirmed Thursday.

200 Park For Her will be located at the first floor of the Robinson Renaissance and boasts of plenty of window space to display her wares. The shop became vacant in 2012. The store’s product line is geared to women looking for mid- to high-quality labels and accessories.

The store is currently being built out by Smith’s husband, contractor Tim Smith. The store is expected to open in March.

Women’s clothing store to open at downtown OKC’s Robinson Renaissance
Street-front retail is returning to downtown Oklahoma City in March with the planned opening of 200 Park For Her, a women’s clothing shop, owner Jan Smith confirmed Thursday.

“When you look around, you realize the city’s getting pretty awesome,” Smith said. “So why not start out with something cool? We’ve got a great location. I’d like to create a storefront that maybe you’d see in New York City.”

The 3,000-square-foot property in the first floor of Robinson Renaissance is managed by Price Edwards & Co. The boutique has plenty of eye-catching display space at the intersection of Robinson and Park avenues that Smith said she plans to fill with the assistance of a professional window designer. The shop has been vacant since family-owned OKC Florist closed in mid-2012.

This will be Smith’s first entrepreneurial effort as a merchant. She said she’s been on the other side of the checkout counter long enough to know what customers want from a clothing retailer. The store’s product line will appeal to women looking for mid- to high-quality labels and jewelry accessories, from funky to business, she said.

“I’ve been watching the women around here from Devon and SandRidge and other big businesses downtown and realized they needed somewhere to shop,” she said. “I’ve been a shopaholic most of my life. I know all the product lines. And with my kids gone now, I figured, why not?”

The store is currently being built out by Smith’s husband, contractor Tim Smith. He said that if he doesn’t make his March deadline, home life will become difficult. The couple have lived downtown within walking distance of the shop since March.

Price Edwards property manager Nancy Kirk said she’s also excited that such a high-visibility anchor will feature retail and hopes that it bodes well for the rest of the central business district.

Kirk said one of her international tenants is expanding to more than half a floor at Robinson Renaissance while vacancy has shrunk overall this past year. An energy company based in Edmond is also looking to relocate downtown, she said.

“We’ve had several tenants move in, in the last year, just because they wanted to be downtown where they do business with SandRidge and Devon,” Kirk said. “They said they wanted to be part of the excitement. I know that sounds hokey, but it really happens that way.”

Yep, momentum really does exist. I hope this new store signals something good for more downtown retail.

I drove past last night on the way to a restaurant and it looked great through the car window. I wish them all the best, especially since Jan Smith appears to lack experience running a business ("Smith’s first entrepreneurial effort as a merchant"). I hope that she and Teena Hicks hit it off because Teena has 24 years experience selling threads downtown, and they sell to different genders.

Drove by this today. Looks great. Looks like a Chicago storefront.

Hopefully this does well, might be able to attract more retail if this is successful.

I'd support it....but, I don't have the right body parts to be shopping in there. Nor do I have a significant other to buy presents for...

It's on the street... Right on the SW corner of Robinson and Park.

we need more doors from the street, I think that is what the previous poster meant. That way, the stores can open when they want and there is street interaction (as previously posted).

But I am so excited about this - Im not a woman but I so desire for the CBD to step it up and provide a retail experience for the growing population of workers, residents, and tourists! I recall on a past visit several years ago, my ex-fiance commented on OKC's lack of retail options downtown where we stayed. I couldn't disagree with her and this is nice to see.

But that Robinson / Park corner is pretty slick with this store, Cool Greens in City Place and Cafe 7 in the FNC.

With Kitchen No. 324 and the barbershop next to it in the Braniff Building, we have some real storefronts along Robinson now.

I hadn't heard a thing about this but saw it on Sunday while taking a 3-hour urban hike with my daughter and was very please by what I saw.

Incidentally, while looking through the windows, a couple walked by us with their rolling suitcases in tow, looking lost. I asked them if I could help them find something. They said "a place to eat that's open". It was about 1:30pm, so I advise they go the two blocks north to catch the tail end of brunch at Kitchen 324, or otherwise most things in Bricktown would be open, giving them basic directions. They walked toward 324 and I didn't see them turn around once they got there so I think they stayed and hopefully got a better first impression of our city/downtown. We really need to work on more downtown things (CBD in particular) being open on weekends, especially Sundays!

[Just the facts]

Funny how when things are built to an urban standard everyone seems to like it. I agree that they need to put a door on the sidewalk and not just because it will improve sidewalk interaction, but because it will drive more customers into their store. Nothing says "Come In" like a door right in front of you. In fact, this whole store should be flipped so that the lounge and TV area can be seen from the sidewalk. If I was walking with my wife I would be much more inclined to enter and linger if I saw there was a place for me to sit while she shopped (which I assume is exactly what this area is for).

The place is amazing. Tim Smith is a developer and did all of the remodel. He spared no expense. This is a very classy place and I am sure that they will do well.

Place looks great - Seems like if Teena Hicks and Nancy Farha can survive, Ms. Smith can. I wish her the best of luck - for her and for the return of retail to downtown.
