They may be relatively light in magnitude, but our house is showing the strain. Small cracks opening in plaster and doors won't latch right. Thinking it's time to add earthquake coverage to insurance policy!

That's more likely due to the drouth conditions causing settling of the ground beneath the house. Our house is showing the same symptoms although we're in far northwest OKC and have not felt any tremors since the 5.6 one months ago. And the door symptoms vary, day to day, depending on temperature and humidity!

Big one, my hands are a little shaky still.

  6. Default Re: 2013 Oklahoma Earthquake Discussion

I was wanting to go sleep. Waiting for it to pop up on OGS.

Just had an awesome shake over at NW 122nd & MacArthur! Lasted for a good 15 seconds! My heart was beating fast with that shake rattle and roll!!

Felt it in Moore. It was quick, though.

Wow that was huge! Woke me up from a dead sleep.

Felt like someone drove into my apartment building. One good, jarring shake followed by some rattling.

Yikes. The earth just quaked. How big was that one? Must have been at least a 4.0.

The jolt woke me up but the rest of the shake was pretty tamed.

Wow, pretty decent shaking over here on NW 10th an Meridian, I lived on the 18th floor at the Regency in dt OKC during the 5.6 quake, and that one made the tower sway and could barely stand.Whats the magnitude of this one?

  14. Default Re: 2013 Oklahoma Earthquake Discussion

Im guessing 4.3-4.5 on that one based on past experience.

Still waiting for it here: http://www.okgeosurvey1.gov/pages/home.php

From my house it first just sounded like a strong wind, it took a second to realize there was ground movement

  18. Default Re: 2013 Oklahoma Earthquake Discussion

Not buying the initial 3.0 estimate. Never have felt a 3.0 unless this thing was shallow.

Agreed, my house groaned a little too.

Considering the wide area this was felt (here in Moore all the way to waking my sister up in Tulsa) I am also very surprised by the 3.0 estimate.

    Exactly what I thought.
If I'd been down in a tornado shelter it would probably have been extra "scary" . . .

They are now listing a 4.3 and a 3.0 roughly eleven minutes apart
