Ribbon Cutting on October 29th. This really is a beautiful building and an incredible addition to downtown Edmond. Just curious what they are going to do with the old one.

Last I heard they're leaning toward demolishing the old facility and building a new structure to house city offices which in my opinion is the most logical option.

I noticed office furniture vans on Main street in front of the Safety Center. It looks like they are wrapping this up finally. I saw this driving by, so I wasn't able to get a picture.

This might needs its own thread in the future if this becomes more solid but right now they are looking at tearing down the old police station and replacing it with city council chambers.

Mayor Charles Lamb has asked Architect Thomas Small to look at the prospect of creating new Edmond City Council Chambers with multipurpose technology to be built at the current location of the former downtown Edmond Police Department.

“If you’ve ever been in the school board conference room/meeting room, that’s kind of what we want to look at so it’s got more value than just being a council chambers,” Lamb said Thursday before the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce.

The plan is only conceptual at this point, Lamb said, but it would be a three-story building mirroring the look of the territorial style architecture of the Public Safety Center, Lamb said.

    PP,
Just what we need, more space for politicians and less space for the police to protect us from them.
