Thread: Cheap golf courses?

    Default Cheap golf courses?

What are some of the cheapest golf courses in OKC, preferably no more than a 20 min drive from downtown? Are there any private clubs that offer inexpensive young professional memberships?

There is a 9 hole course at SE 96th and S Shields. My sons have played it a few times when both are back in Norman for a visit. I don't recall the green fees but I thin it falls below 30.

The city owned courses were among the cheapest when I played. Lincoln Park, Lake Hefner, Trosper Park is probably the closest to downtown but I never did play there. The OKC city courses green fees are 23.50 for 18 holes, 19.75 for Twilight (used to be after 4:00 PM) green fees, cart fees are 13.00. There is also Midwest City Regional (Conrad) has a range of fees and looks to be a bit cheaper than the OKC courses (Conrad fees), all were were pretty good courses for the money. I know that MWC Municipal had a 9 hole course that I learned on (40 years) that was a nice little course, mostly par 3 with a few par 4's. It is now called Hidden Creek Family Golf Course.

Both Lincoln courses are very nice and the newly-revised Lake Hefner courses are much improved as well. Lincoln West was always my personal favorite.

There is also James E. Stewart, a 9-hole course right by Douglas HS.

Public courses in OKC are very, very reasonable compared to most cities.

River Oaks in NE OKC is private but offers a young executive membership:

OKC muni courses are really good compared to many other cities, but damn them for not offering 9 hole green fees

I'd lost track of what the name was now. My kids just ask if they can go play "Midget Meadows" when they're headed there. Pretty good course for someone learning or just working on their game.

I prefer Hefner. They have a fairly large driving range that is pretty inexpensive. Also, Silverhorn has lot of deals that will allow you to play for cheap, plus the course is not near as crowded as something like Hefner.
