What building is just to the left in the background of the Colcord with the design work at the top?

Just makes me sick to see these old photos. What loss.

You should also feel sick any time history tries to repeat itself downtown.

    Nice summer time shot:

Ah, the greenery. The dappled shadows on the building. Nice.

You can see the Kerr Dry Good Store which was the predecessor to the Kerr's Department Store.

I've never stayed at the Colcord. I've thought about booking a room someday, just for the heck of it.

I have some friends who stay there on New Year's Eve every year so they can attend the Thunder game, opening night ceremonies and my New Year's Eve party. That would be a great night to stay and not have to worry about driving anywhere after festivities.

When the Colcord was sold, they auctioned off each floor for salvage and I was able to pick up a couple of the floors and have been storing bits and pieces of the building for several years. I used a few of the doors, glass, transoms, and marble in my house. I have approx 20 more doors and numerous windows in the garage. I am the owner of the new building set to go up in the film exchange at 600 west Sheridan and they will be repurposed into the new building. I wish I had more of the door handles but unfortunately was only able to get a few.

Main looks like it very well could have been like Larimer Square in Denver today if not for demolition:
