So I have noticed these flying in for the past few months. I know exactly what you are talking about. I flew in/out yesterday. On departure to the north at about 6am, looking west I could see them from about 2,000 feet. Below us was Newcastle Rd., extending Newcastle road in that direction leads you to the south end of the area of lights.

Arriving, we came in from the south about 11pm. We were directly over Indian Hills rd (which turns into Main St for Tuttle and Newcastle), that road line extending out hits the south edge of the area of lights.

Those two lines intersect just west of Tuttle.

    Sure enough, a windfarm.

Not bad visual navigating/referencing huh? I can't navigate by the stars though.

From what I counted on Google Maps, one square mile has 8 windmills, the square mile to the east of that has 3, the square mile to the west has 4 and the square mile caddy corner to the SW of that has 3. So, 18 red lights sound about right?

Sounds about right. There should be one more much closer to the airport though, that I noticed last night that was synchronized with this group of lights but was separated by quit a margin.

There is another wind farm near Calumet, which is west northwest of El Reno just a few miles. I believe this is the farm described in post # 1.

No based on his description he saw these. If he was coming from Denver and made no noticeable banking. He landed on Runway 13. If he looked directly out his right side he would have been facing these lights directly.

Also these have been the only synchronized lights I have been able to find around the metro.

Direction and location is hard to tell from the passenger seat of an airplane, especially at night. It's easy to get confused.

I thnk you are describing the Minco wind farm just west of Tuttle......he said the lights were 20 - 30 miles west of OKC and back North.... that puts the location at the Calumet wind farm. Re-read post # 1.
