I wish OKC would do more to promote Wiley Post as a maintenance base or if we could land a plant. One other thing OKC could do is establish itself in the Airworthiness Certification Tests - where planes are flown from Point to Point to ensure they operate. Here in WA, Moses Lake and Boeing Field (of course) are the most prominent; I believe Ardmore 'locally' serve/d this purpose. OKC should try to get that to Wiley Post, which would bring at least a smaller maintenance facility and sales offices. That would start the ball rolling for others to consider relocation.

IMO, Aviation is one of the best relocation bets for OKC - given the talent and critical mass that is just at the cusp. The other nice thing about Aviation is the complete range of jobs: Exec, mid management, Engineering, Operations, Technical - Blue Collar ALL will usually be in each single facility or campus.

That's an increase of 12k from 2018. Not too bad.

New census data released today has Oklahoma City at 655,057, up from 647,912 in 2019, an increase of 7,145 persons. Was hoping for a little more, but I will take it. We also jumped Portland, and now are ranked in the top 25. Detroit is ahead of us by 15,000, but we will jump them as well in the next few years, as Detroit has been losing population every year on a consistent basis.

Jeez. Denver, Seattle, Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin all gained around 30k in the last three years. Not as much growth in Dallas as I expected.

How do you look at the data in the format of a ranking of cities in the area? How did you know OKC was 25th?

The only way I see this data on that website is by clicking on each individual state and scrolling through every town in that state.

Click on the links under the TABLES header. It shows cities over 5oK population.

Those numbers just show the city proper. It doesn't include the metro area as a whole. OKC is much larger in land mass than most of the other cities. I know that the greater Portland area has quite a larger pop. than Okc metro. Back in the 70-80s both Okc and Portland metros were about the same pop. wise.

Mistake above, I believe OKC and San Antonio were about the same size metros in 70s-80s time frame. Of course SA metro much larger now.

Indeed. We're losing to some cities and overtaking others, and so our metro ranking doesn't seem to change all that much from one census to the next. Do they issue yearly metro rankings?

All that DFW growth is in Collin County and to the west in FW.

What is more significant? A city’s “proper” population, or its MSA?
