Well this is a restaurant thread, after all, but speaking of the OTC closing something down.... Stevie's Liquor at Hefner & Rockwell, next to the Crest Grocery, has been closed by the OTC for about 3 years or so. The weird thing is that Stevie's is still stocked full of liquor. There's quite a bit of money sitting inside that store. The CPA next door told me that Stevie is still paying the rent on the store. Weird, huh? That's a lot of money going out without any revenue coming in. I asked because I couldn't understand why the landlord had not managed to take control, after these 3 years or so, but I'm not a legal beagle expert.

Never been a small business owner, but I can probably count on two hands the number of restaurants that have gotten closed by the OTC (that I know of) in the dozen years I've been back in OKC, and I can count on one finger the number of restaurants that have defied the OTC and had to be closed by the sheriff, and the intersection of those two sets is Ingrid's. All the rest of the restaurants I keep track of and know about are not in either of those sets, and those number in the dozens, if not over one hundred. Besides, their food sucks now, that's the main point.

I believe Fuze (the buffet) or whatever it is now, on NW Expressway also went through this.

I'm not too concerned about the OTC issues if they were resolved so quickly, but if they stay cash only I will not be patronizing them again.

Taken this morning (Saturday). Doing a booming business. Cash Only sign is still in the window.

Since they were only closed a day, I seriously doubt they were escorted out by the sheriff.

Trust me, these temporary closures happen all the time. Then the owners quickly pay to reopen. I don't even bother to report them.

Years ago I happened to be able to have a lunch in Ann Arbor with Tom Monagham who started Dominos Pizza. He recalled having been chained by the Michigan tax authorities. It turned out just fine for him thanks to an out of work accountant he met in a bar one night. Lol.

Ingrid's doesn't seem as good as it used to, I don't mind paying cash. It's still the best place for Sauerbraten.

Funny enough, he is where I first learned about QAnon stuff back in 2015/2016. That was the first and last time going there...

The Owner Lee Burris passed away in May. he was a legend in OKC gay community for sure and owned many bars and businesses through the years. he is truly missed.

Loved this place! Spent many Mother's Day dinners here, many workday lunches, and many stops for bakery items when we lived near. Ingrid's had a fantastic run and I will miss it.

That hasn't been around for years, Ingrid's took it over and used it as their "West End" extra space.

Sure but with new owners, they will change the menu and the food and everything and you are excited to eat their food again and taste their food only for you to say "It does not taste the same as it used to be" and you are going to be wishing that they never revive it

PRONTO New York Style Pizza is going into the side location that is connected to the old Ingrid's location.

We drive by often and the work has mainly been happening in the former "West End" space that PRONTO is opening in, all the trucks have been there, not much happening in the main building.

They also recently added a sign for Pronto. So they seem to be moving pretty fast.

Pronto Pizza is taking the eastern half of the building that faces 36th.

I peeked inside of the old Ingrid's space and it's been completely gutted. I know all their equipment was recently auctioned off. There is the old deli then the adjacent bar just to the north -- doesn't look like anything is happening in either space quite yet.

Every time I drive by there I say a little prayer that something goes in that doesn't change the old grocery store storefront. I still see a bunch of my grade school friends and we still talk about memories of going there after school. That's another building I would truly miss.

My gut tells me they won't mess with the outside of the building much.

The guy who bought the property owns a bunch of similar real estate around town and merely leases to various local restaurants. Since Ingrid's already had a large kitchen, I bet it will stay largely the same, and then someone will put their finishes on it. Even though the equipment is gone, all the required plumbing, electrical and ventilation are still there, so pretty easy for another restaurant to move in.

In the late 1970's I lived at the apartment complex north of there, north of I-44, and bought most all of my groceries there. I can't remember the name of the grocery. I can't recall the apartments name, I *think* it was Elm Creek, maybe, or something like that. Back then it was a pretty decent place. Drove by a few years ago and it was a slum dump with a different name.
