I do understand the difference. The main thing I should make more clear is if Chesapeake is forced to sell, will they continue with the naming rights in 2023, most likely negotiations will start in 2022.

All new seats are planned for The Peake; not sure if this will be the color, however this was part of a renovation pic; would you feel okay with a different seat color.

I would love a different color. I'm old enough to remember when arenas in the 1960s-70s had brightly colored seats (like the red in The Incomparable Myriad).

Aren't those just the orange shirts from before a playoff game?

I saw this thread bumped and thought maybe it had to do with the Chesapeake naming rights, so I looked it up.

They signed a 12 year contract in 2011 @ $3MM per year with 3% escalation. I put this into excel to see how much it is costing the company, not sure if I did it right, though.

    YEAR COST TOTAL
    2011 $3,000,000.00
    2012 $3,090,000.00 $6,090,000.00
    2013 $3,182,700.00 $9,272,700.00
    2014 $3,278,181.00 $12,550,881.00
    2015 $3,376,526.43 $15,927,407.43
    2016 $3,477,822.22 $19,405,229.65
    2017 $3,582,156.89 $22,987,386.54
    2018 $3,689,621.60 $26,677,008.14
    2019 $3,800,310.24 $30,477,318.38
    2020 $3,914,319.55 $34,391,637.93
    2021 $4,031,749.14 $38,423,387.07
    2022 $4,152,701.61 $42,576,088.68

Sorry about the formatting.... Not sure how to get it to come across more legible.

YES. However changes i'm still alive or don't lose my tickets by 2022. I think there should be some kind of security for them. I guess i could put them somewhere safer than my desk.

    Take photos with your phone.

They can usually scan the bar codes off the photos without needing a physical ticket.

This, along with space shuttle, is the greatest technology leap of my lifetime.
I remain confused by the purgatory that is "Will Call".

Yep, that's correct. A total of $42.6M paid over the 12 years. So we'd expect the next winner to start at $4 to 4.5M in year 1?

Depends if company's still have the stomach to put their name on a building for that much money when that building could be empty for a whole year by a random event.

Probability says its low it would happen again in the near future, but people don't often think in terms of probability.

If the name of the arena changes, there is a lot of interior and exterior signage that will need to be updated. I am thinking about the video walls in the ceiling at nearly every section on the 100 concourse level that have CHK branded on the side, of course the exterior and roof of the building, and also just general directional signage around the city. Ford Center didn't have near the investment in branding inside the arena, and the infrastructure downtown has changed a lot in the past decade with updated signage. (Streetcar, Underground, Hotel waypoint signage).

My money is on Loves. Paycom is weird with their money.

Paycom and Loves already have sponsorships at Chesapeake. Sonic is the only major OKC company with heavy advertising that does not do so at Chesapeake nor for the OKC thunder.

this is why I suspect they’ll take the naming rights as it would be a huge statement for them, an already heavy advertiser that doesn’t have a presence at home.

Interesting discussion on the naming rights while this Pandemic continue to put our large corporations and small businesses in peril. No one knows how long this pandemic will impact our lives.

Our city/citizens has shown its commitment to its venues like the OKC Zoo, ASA Hall of Fame Stadium (expansion/renovation), Bricktown Ballpark (new seats) and Chesapeake Arena (new seats planned) with updates/upgrades to accommodate use--to name a few.

The funding mechanism is where we need to focus our efforts. The Census--make sure you're counted, so many institutions like our schools will be impacted by these funds.

This would be my guess as well, they advertise pretty much everywhere they can and this is about as big as it gets. They may be a little "weird" with their money, but every decision they make is to make them look good, this would certainly put them in the limelight.

Sonic isn't really an OKC company anymore though.
