Thread: Summary of Downtown Projects

Articles like that do a good job of chronicling the BIG projects, but there are just SOOO many little and medium sized projects, for example like the 430 Lofts that we just found out about today. I think it's the collective mass of little projects that really do a ton more than anything. A Devon and a highway don't organically cultivate a built environment on their own...

Whenever I get angry about the mismanagement of big projects, like the utter fail that is P180, it does really help to start to think about the little projects instead (except for the ones in Bricktown lol).

Maybe this is threaded someplace else but what is going up on the east side of I-235 near the lincoln exit? It looks to be about 3 to 4 stories.

FYI... if you haven't been, The Banjo Museum on Sheridan, has a re-created Shakeys Pizza stage where they still play on.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, we're in the process of installing a wiki application for the site which work just like wikipedia: articles can be written on any subject and access to edit can be controlled through the vBulletin interface.

So, in addition to long, unwieldy threads we will soon be able to attach a article to each which will allow us to summarize and update the key information for each subject/project.

Stay tuned but this should be setup in a couple of weeks and then we are going to need tons of responsible volunteers to write and maintain the articles.

I'm calling it OKC-pedia (or maybe Okla-pedia) and it will be a great way to keep information separate from, but also directly attached to, general discussion.

I think those awnings on the Native Roots side will help LEVEL. I looked inside Native Roots today and the floor is still dirt, so it's going to be awhile. Two more Maywood Brownstones are being finished out, but I don't know if that's for spec or if they have buyers. Is there any news about the Flatiron project? I assumed that was dead. I also heard today that the building on the SW corner of Oklahoma and Main is under contract, although I don't know to whom or if it's for sure.

You mean the Meineke Bldg / Mercantile Bldg? I thought Gary Cotton wanted to do the Mercantile Lofts there.

Do you mean that they're going to start construction on two more Brownstones? What do you mean by being finished out? They haven't built anymore brownstones in a few years.

I don't know the name of the building. It's the two story building on the south side of Main street, west side of Oklahoma. And, I was told that by someone who has an office nearby and heard it from someone who owns his building. So, it is just hearsay. When the Brownstones were built, they were only framed on the inside, so people could finish them out the way they wanted. They are finishing the inside of two of them on the north side of the street. I've heard rumors of a couple of new custom Brownstones in the works, but again, just rumors.
