You guys just don't see the sarcasm. I'm deliberately squashing anything Torea talks about on this thread. It's his playroom and I dare him to step out the door and comment on something other than Mark Twain Whistles. Dude's a joke...

I used to live in Missouri (90 miles from KC) and I'm well aware of their tasty BBQ...derp!

Must have read it in the same place you read the people here give a rats-ass about somebody from KC not liking train horns.

Ok, enough. Stop the attacks. Torea has every legal right to discuss the train horn issues. If you don't have anything nice to say or lack of topic contribution, don't post. Get back on topic.

Mods, we need 2010 change to 2012, plz. The request for 2011 gone thru whole year unnoticed.

I agree, Thunder, let’s go back to the topic:

Forcing train engineers to blow the loud horns 4 times before every railroad crossing makes in my humble opinion no sense.
But that's exactly what the FRA enforced when their new rules became final in 2006. Many people living around these railroads noticed this noise level change and frequency level.

This new FRA rule does not reduce the number of accidents.
People who want to cross railroads while red lights are flashing, bells are ringing and arms are down will not stop for the noise of these horns. They are drunk, stupid or suicidal.

I don't understand why the US is the only place in the world where trains are forced to create this kind of noise pollution.

Could someone please explain? (without emotional arguments)

Which person elected President will change that?

Frankly, I don't know but we can change it to make this country better to live in.

Which elected president allowed the FRA to create this noise creating rule?

After all one of the benefits of our democracy is to be able to initiate changes and to express our opinion.

Torea, the repetitive posting has got to go bye bye... No one is making any ground, you especially. You need to take your platform to Washington DC. Your argument is about as futile as the Occupy OKC movement...

Anyone else just get a mental picture of torea in hobo attire, a lil bag tied to a pole over the shoulder, standing on an at grade crossing with a cardboard sign saying
    SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    (Occupy Ear Canal)
