What a catch for the Diamond and on Saturday night...One of the best jam bands out there right now

Caught both of their sets at Wakarusa in June and they put on a great show

I will definitely be taking my slightly aging self to this one

My cousin is a professional photographer & attends their shows all over the country as one of their official concert photographers. He lives and breathes this band lol. Very cool that they are coming here.

I would have liked to have gone since I am a fan, but I am a bigger O.U. football fan so I stayed home and watched the game after spending all afternoon at the State Fair. I saw Kansas Friday night in Stillwater. They played Thursday and Friday with the OSU student symphony. They are playing shows this fall and next year with university symphonies. Portions of the ticket and merchandise sales go to the music departments of the universities they are playing at. D'darrio is sponsoring the concerts and is donating scholarship money and musical gear to every school.

There was little publicity about these shows outside of the OSU music school website and some some small mentions in local papers. There was nothing about the shows in the Oklahoman or the Gazette until a few days before the concerts. The Oklahoman did have an article in Thursday's paper about the shows. Most people know Kansas from Carry on Wayward Son, Point of Know Return, and Dust in the Wind. Their music portfolio is much more diverse than those three songs. Their music is highly classically influenced and is well suited for an orchestra. They have a large following in Oklahoma and usually play to large crowds in Oklahoma City. Unfortunatley, they were only given forty minutes during the tour this summer with Styx and Foreigner so many who saw them for the first time got a false impression of what their music is like. The concert Friday was excellent.
