I didn't see any beer tasting. How many Oklahoma breweries are there?

There used to be a big beer sales table/booth in front of the grandstands. The workers were volunteers from a church group to raise money. We could buy there and consider it a donation.......

    Wait a minute........

    Is this tax deductible.....

Well, once again "The Great State Fair" of Oklahoma is coming around the corner....Drove by there yesterday and it sure looked strange without the Fairgrounds Raceway. I also noticed that the PRCA Rodeo (not the finals) is coming back to OKC. The guy in charge even apologized to OKC for leaving to begin with.
I guess Prunepicker is getting for the Knifes that "slice and Dice" and the Corn Dogs....PapaOU...the beer hut is going to be there also. You and Prunepicker could get together and sing a Karaoke duet at O'Briens. I'm sure all of the crowd will show if you guys let us know the date....

I don't do croaky. It's too dangerous. Never been inside O'briens.
However, the Corn Dog exhibits will be hit hard.

To bad we've have all that wasted space for that agrapolis. It
could be moved the livestock barns or pared way down stuck in
a side room of the MADE IN OKLAHOMA building where the
    venders are hidden.

I recall once in the mid70s i went into one of the places on the midway where right before your eyes a chick turns into a gorilla then busts out of the cage scaring everyone half to death. Good times......

Prunepicker, have you never really examined all of the junk that you can pick up in the exhibit areas after you get home. Most of the time you wonder why in the world you ever took it. LOL

Are you being funny? I honestly can't tell since I've not detected
a sense of humor from you. I continually examine the State Fair
artifacts I've collected over the years. Maybe you think I'm
    kidding.

At any rate, the photos of the Blue Angels, the UAW yard sticks,
silly political doo dads, taste samples, lizards, goldfish, hanging
out with girls I'll never see again, etc... can hardly be thought
of as junk. I know why I took every single piece and remember
    it like it was yesterday.

I have know idea what you're talking about. I really don't.

LOL. Obviously you're the one without a sense of humor. I always get home with stuff that someone handed me and I wonder why I ever took it except to just be polite. Most of it goes in the trash. If you are a hoarder and want to save everything you get, more power to you.

Let's get the southside together for a day at the fair. That'll
be fun. I'm tasting Dan's Indian Tacos and the Corn Dogs
    right now.

Tell Mom, Frisky and Tall Girl. We'll have a blast.

Mom just love Dan's Indian Tacos. I wonder if we're going... Her foot is hurting again. :-(

Can you still find anyone there who gives away those flat plastic things with a round ball on the end that you use to dial the telephone with? They usually come with advertising burnished in...and--do they still have con-men who hawk various types of vegetable choppers/slicers at a awning-draped kiosk with an enraptured crowd of folks who listen to their pitch?

One year, after many years of being gullible and playing all the midway games and losing, I happened onto the game where you throw footballs through tires and win progressively bigger stuffed animals. For whatever reason, I couldn't miss. One after another I threw football after football right through the middle of the tires. Of course I ended up spending about $20 on a giant $5 bear, but it was fun while it lasted and seemed to impress the girl I met there.

The only major prize I won at the fair was a giant, 15-foot long stuffed animal snake. I won it by tossing a ring on a coke bottle. We happened to have come to the fair in my girlfriend's little two-seater Pontiac Fiero. It was a memorable drive home with parts of that snake hanging out the window. If you want to win a prize, do yourself a favor and play the games right before you leave so you don't get stuck carrying a giant stuffed animal around the fair all day.

My boss told me the story about the caged women changing into a monkey at the fair, she said she was in front row and when the cage door broke open, she took off running and screaming slapping, stepping on shoving kids and adults left and right to escape, lol she said she never been so scared in her life she ran out of that place and ran a little further when she got out, people where laughing at her when it was all said and done.. I wish the fair had things like that there still.

You should contact an agent and go to the NFL!

    Is it a gout?

    I remember...
    ....the smell of the midway, both good and bad;
....the "hootchie kootchie" shows, and being rushed past them by my parents on the midway. I imagine is was some type of extremely tame burlesque. Anyone else remember that?
....feeling somewhat nauseous at some of the painted art that marketed some of the sideshow acts. "Zorva the Depraved!" was one that sticks in my mind. Zorva was hyped as some kind of animal hybrid jungle woman. The depiction I remember was one of her eating a severed arm.
....feeling incredibly panicked at age 10 after my older sisters lured me on to the double ferris wheel and it stalled for what seemed like an eternity at the top one evening.
....being fascinated and a little afraid of the bikers that have always frequented the fair. I remember one group in particular. I was about 8 or 9. A biker moll came up to this big biker dude that she hadn't seen in a long time and not only hugged him, but pretty much started humping around on him. I was shocked, a little scared, and mesmerized!
...seeing a teenage girl bringing what seemed to be her 9 or 10 year old brother and friend to the fair and sending them on their way, after first lighting a cigarette for each of them.
